In 2003, Nintendo of Europe's official site for Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga offered a Macromedia Flash program for the game to download. The program simply contained a variety of low-resolution videos explaining various moves from the game, within an original frame graphic depicting Cackletta and Lady Lima. In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, after Mario and Luigi obtain their first pair of hammers, Sledge and Mallet (also known as the Hammerhead Bros.) explain how to use them in battle with a tutorial. The tutorial is completely scripted and it is not possible to defeat the Hammerhead Bros.; however, in the game’s code, this is not accomplished by designating them as special tutorial opponents, but rather by giving them an extremely high amount of HP.

Sledge and Mallet each have 5000 HP. This is several times higher than the final boss, who only has 1200 HP, making them the most powerful entities battled in the entire game. If the game is hacked to give Mario and Luigi enough attack power to defeat them, the game crashes.
