Does anyone else remember that weird traditionalist guy on twitter who said that the Eras Tour was counter culture against “modern feminism” because women were getting dressed up in cute outfits? Little does he know, Taylor Swift and most of her fans don’t even agree with him (I know there are GOP swifties but her fans trend younger and more female and slightly Dem voting). Conservatives love to claim that wokeism is the reason something failed when it fails, but if it’s successful, they want to claim it as their own. Nick Adams, despite hating Taylor Swift, loved to say that the new Top Gun was a conservative movie and while, sure, it doesn’t exactly question America’s legitimacy to bomb other countries, it also doesn’t exactly go deep into the identity of the pilots as Americans or patriots either, just shows them as pilots who are in the US Navy, nothing about like their crusade against wokeness or them being patriots specifically. But also, it’s not inherently liberal either. It might have a diverse cast that shows how diverse our modern military is and have a female fighter pilot as well, but nothing about how they’re promoting wokeness or very liberal. They’re just pilots at the end of the day. It’s a nonpartisan movie that definitely promotes the military, but promoting the military isn’t inherently partisan at this point when the generals despise MAGA and are very much in favor of civil rights small l liberalism and obviously Tommy Tuberville is blocking military promotions because he thinks the military is woke but obviously Dems are more skeptical of increased military spending when the squad opposes military spending increases and even MTG is actually buying Raytheon stocks. But then Nick Adams said Lightyear failed because it was woke when in reality it just wasn’t a great movie yet “woke women’s studies Star Wars” brought in a lot of money yet they never bring that up. As it turns out, people like any movie with shooting or a movie that has a cult following like Star Wars.
