Canto knocked on the door, hoping that his son, Xander, could answer so he could give him dinner as always. He hadn’t been out of his room for three whole days ever since the incident that happened at the battleground. He waited for a while until he hears Xander say “Go away….”

Canto did not go away. Instead he just kept knocking. “Xander, It’s your father. Dinner is ready and you haven't been eating. Please just let me in.”

“Why should I have the right to eat? I can't do that, not after what I've done.”

“Son, please. let’s just talk about this…I know what happened but I'm not angry at you for killing her.”

“WHY?!” Xander snapped at Canto making him take a step back. He didn’t expect that but he had to tell him. 

“Because...that happened to me when I was your age.”

Xander stayed silent for a while until responding

“Fine, come in…the door’s unlocked.”

Canto opened the door and walked in and saw his son curled up in his bed while being covered in pink slime. He looked absolutely miserable, his hair messy, and his eyes tired and red. Seeing this almost made Canto tear up but he had to stay strong. He walked over and sat on his son’s bed.

“Xander…I understand how you feel. You’re not the only one who accidentally killed someone with that sword. Just like you I felt like nothing. I know what it’s like to be this way.” Canto said. 

Xander slowly turned his head around to look at him, looking like he’s going to cry.

“I hate this so much…I'm scared.” “I know.” Canto said, rubbing his son’s back to soothe him. “I’m scared too. You’re not alone.” He placed the food down on the bed and pulled Xander close to him into a tight hug, as flowers began to slowly blossom on his skin. “Please, kid. Stay strong…for me, for your mom and siblings...please.” Xander buried his face into his father’s chest. “...I'll…I'll try.”

“Thank you, son. Thank you.” He breaks the hug and holds the food up.

“Now just please eat. We’re getting worried for you.”

“...Okay…”

Xander slowly ate the food while Canto was still rubbing his back. After that, the two hugged one more time until Xander fell asleep in his father’s arms for the first time in so long.
