God, Jaime Lannister Cared So Fucking Much What Brienne Of Tarth Thought Of Him. 15 Years. Fifteen God
God, Jaime Lannister cared so fucking much what Brienne of Tarth thought of him. 15 years. Fifteen god damn years of being called the Kingslayer. His unofficial title, the way he’ll definitely be described in the White Book posthumously, states that he’s an oath breaker, that he killed his liege that he swore to protect. Never did he, not fucking once, defend himself from that title. Not once did he reveal that he was protecting Kings Landing from a cruel king. Not once did he justify his actions that paint him as, whether or not you give a fuck about the targs, a bad guy. A turncloak. An oath breaker. A man who was pardoned because of who he was to the new King. He didn’t give a fuck if people thought he was honorable or not.
And then Brienne of Tarth calls him Kingslayer to his face. He can’t stand that, and it’s not long before he’s revealing his motivations to her. He dreams about her. He gifts her a priceless sword called Oathkeeper. He cares so so much about her opinion of him. He fixates on his honor after they part ways and he probably hopes that word of his honorable actions, his refusal to spill Tully blood, reaches the ears of the Maid of Tarth.

the discourse for today is "dany stans" are making up that daenerys is magical

when literally
daenerys is azor ahai. ( When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone. The bleeding star has come and gone, and Dragonstone is the place of smoke and salt. ) daenerys hatches dragons for the first time in centuries & this rebirth is quickly followed shierak qiya, the red comet.
george said it himself: "The whole point of the scene in A Game of Thrones where Daenerys hatches the dragons is that she makes the magic up as she goes along; she is someone who really might do anything."
she spends the first novel having dragon dreams that result in the resurrection of dragons
the warlocks in the house of the undying want to cannibalize her & her magic to become stronger themselves
this entire passage btw:
"Half a year gone, that man could scarcely wake fire from dragonglass. He had some small skill with powders and wildfire, sufficient to entrance a crowd while his cutpurses did their work. He could walk across hot coals and make burning roses bloom in the air, but he could no more aspire to climb the fiery ladder than a common fisherman could hope to catch a kraken in his nets." Dany looked uneasily at where the ladder had stood. Even the smoke was gone now, and the crowd was breaking up, each man going about his business. In a moment more than a few would find their purses flat and empty. "And now?" "And now his powers grow, Khaleesi. And you are the cause of it." "Me?" She laughed. "How could that be?" The woman stepped closer and lay two fingers on Dany's wrist. "You are the Mother of Dragons, are you not?" (ACOK, Daenerys III)
ALSO claiming daenerys is male gaze is so whack when you know damn well she's a genre breaking character
Sometimes I remember the impressive stuff Jon Snow has done and I'm in an awe of him
Like when he removed the arrow that had injured his leg and then proceeded to ride for days without stopping or eating until he arrived at Castle Black.
At later on, he fought bravely during the battle of Castle Black, despite still being injured.
And he's so young! It's easy to forget he's only a teenager will the impressive stuff he has done.
"You know nothing, Jon Snow" isn't a phrase that should determine Jon's cleverness or indicate he's among the most ignorant characters.
Context is always important. When Ygritte told him this quote for the first time, he was a teen boy raised and educated in westerosi society- a society with strong prejudice against the Free Folk. So, he was as clueless about them as all the other westerosi people ( other pov characters are all included).
What truly matters is that Jon didn't remain stuck in his bias but actually observed and listened to Free Folk's perspective on things. Unlike what he was taught - that those people were savages - he came see them as fellow human beings who deserved the same protection westerosi people had ( aka the Wall protecting them from Others). Some of the people he truly admires and respects are among the Free Folk.
I know there is a notion in this fandom that Starks' views remain unchanged but Jon is a very adaptive character. He always listens different perspectives and has no problem to change his former views if he realises they were wrong. He's far from the " know nothing" stereotype of someone who is ignorant about the world and willfully continues to be so.
A quote I believe that highlights the type of person Jon is and actually has links to the original "Know nothing" Ygritte quote is this one below:
They know nothing, Ygritte. And worse, they will not learn.
cersei spending a whole book dominating at the misogyny olympics then being called a whore and immediately thinking wow so much for women supporting women… i love YOU alive girl
