Okay but I am deeply, deeply touched by Joel saying he wouldn’t steal the crown from Jimmy.

Joel, who when the crown was revealed was the first to turn to violence and the second to spill blood but first to land a hit, who killed fWhip and three more people for that crown. He killed Lizzie for that crown. He said “I need that crown” in his episode. He said he’d get his hands on it one day.

But when Jimmy is right in front of him, alone and distracted with admiring Joel’s statue, when Joel has a sword, he does not kill Jimmy. 

He doesn’t kill Jimmy. Instead, he tells Jimmy: “You’re like a second home to me.” For Jimmy’s cod sanctuary, he builds it in his base. He even warns Jimmy that others may come for him and asks him to be careful.

(He was right, of course. Scott, who said he only wanted to have a peaceful festival, kills Jimmy for it.)

There’s just… Jimmy was his first ally, even before Lizzie, and is perhaps his closest ally. Joel would die, burn in lava and follow Jimmy to the End. He asks Jimmy to be his best man. He asks him to be his hype man. He nearly kills Katherine when she backs out from the Codfather Head recovery quest, but doesn’t resent Jimmy when he says he can’t kill Scott since they’ve only just made an alliance.

It’s just… Joel’s loyalty and love, man.
