Roller coaster

Chenle x reader

Genre:Enemies to lovers

Word count: 1.2k (1287 words)

A/N: This fic is inspired by Part 17 of my social media au with Chenle called Rivalry. It was supposed to be the original but the story would end quicker and I didn’t want that so I changed it but kept this!

You sighed once more. For being in an amusement park, you were definitely not amused at all. You glanced at Chenle’s laughing figure next to Jisung, then at Haechan clinging onto mark like a koala, the elder trying to get him off of him but failing. Jeno and Renjun were talking with Jaemin and you felt so out of this.

You weren’t close to the whole group. You actually hated Chenle and had never had a single conversation with Jaemin or Jisung. Originally you were two groups, Jeno, Haechan, Renjun and you and Jisung, Jaemin, Mark and Chenle. Then, Haechan and Mark became friends, Renjun and Jaemin became friends, eventually making your two individual groups start hanging out as one group.  

Right now it seemed as if they had completely forgotten about you, leaving you alone trailing behind them. You felt someone nudge you and you turn to look at them, your eyes meeting Mark’s.

“Are you okay? You’re not afraid of roller coasters, right?” He asked and you softly smiled. You shook your head ‘no’ at him and gave him a small smile back. “I’m okay, no need to worry.” You said and patted his shoulder.

“Let’s go!” Haechan yelled excitedly and dragged Mark from the arm. You glanced at Renjun and Jeno, to see which one would sit with you, most likely expecting Renjun to join you. However you had forgotten that Renjun hates heights. So when you saw him and Jisung leaving the line and refusing to get on the roller coaster you knew that you were doomed. Jeno seemed too into his own world talking with Jaemin to realise that Chenle and you were the only two left.

Only when the man fixed Jeno’s and Jaemin’s seatbelts did Jeno realise what happened and he turned to you with an apologetic look on his face which you dismissed by scoffing. This was either planned, or a big red flag about your friends.

The same man asked if you’d be joining or if he’d let someone else in, but before you could ask Chenle if he wanted to skip it, he grabbed your arm and walked towards the seats. “I don’t like you, but I like roller coasters.” He mumbled. “I don’t like you either and I like roller coasters too.” You mimicked him and he glanced at you, before looking in front. Only then did you realise that you were in the front seats.

“Chenle likes front seats and Jeno told me you like front seats too, so we sat here on purpose!” Jaemin said with a smile as if he had fixed everything. You just sighed at him and focused on the roller coaster ride that just started.

As the roller coaster was going up, you could hear Haechan scream from somewhere behind and Mark laughing at him. Jeno was panicking a little and you remembered he didn’t have the best relationship with roller coasters either. Why had they agreed to go out here of all places? Chenle let an excited screech from next to you which made you chuckle. You had to admit it was funny seeing him like this.

It was two seconds before the drop when you felt Chenle’s hand grabbing your own and squeezing it tightly before everyone on the ride started screaming with excitement. You let yourself enjoy the ride, your hand squeezing Chenle’s hand back and it was finally time for the second build up. The roller coaster moved slowly as it went higher and higher, and you realized Chenle never let go of your hand. “Are you ready?” Chenle asked you excitedly as if he had forgotten you’re not Jisung. You screamed a “yes” back right before the drop, and screamed your lungs out along with Chenle and laughed at the sounds of your screams.

When the ride was finally over, Chenle helped you stand up as you both laughed excitedly and jumped around, happy to have gone on such ride, making Jisung raise an eyebrow at you. “How do you even enjoy something like this? I would have thrown up!” He said and Renjun nodded next to him.

“You are just chickens.” You jokingly said and Chenle laughed, repeating what you said and made chicken noises which made you burst out laughing. What you missed was Haechan throwing Mark a knowing look, enjoying the scene in front of him.

“I wanna go again” you whined when the other started walking away making Renjun glare at you playfully.

“I think I’ll pass” said Jeno and Jaemin shrugged making you look at Chenle.

“We will go one more time before we leave, okay?” He said to you and you nodded excitedly letting out a squeal.

The rest of the day went by quickly, you went on many different rides and soon it was time to go. Before everyone could walk out the gates you felt Chenle’s hand around your wrist, stopping you. “Didn’t we say we’d go once more on the first ride?” He asked, making everyone turn to look at him confused. Was that really Chenle? When you agreed and told the others to wait for you, they glanced at each other. Were you really y/n? Last time they checked the two of you couldn’t stand each other.

The ride went by the same way the first one did. With Chenle holding your hand before the first drop and not letting go of it until the end of the ride, after he helped you up. You walked towards the rest of the group that was patiently waiting for you outside and all of you started your walks towards home. You first took Jisung home, since he is the youngest he had to leave earlier. Eventually it was just you, Jaemin and Chenle walking home. Coming from wealthy families, your houses were in higher class districts that the rest of the groups, meaning that they were closer to each other’s. Jaemin soon left too. He wanted to joke around and say “try not to argue again” but he knew that after today your dynamics had changed.

Chenle offered to walk you home too, not wanting you to be alone at night and you were thankful for it. You soon reached your door and turned around to face Chenle.

“Thank you for bringing me home and thank you for today. I had a lot of fun.” You said and he smiled.

“I had a lot of fun too. I’m glad that for once we aren’t arguing.” He joked and you chuckled.

“I have to admit, you’re not actually that bad to have around if you’re not constantly trying to piss me off.

“Same goes to you,” he said and you both laughed before averting you gazes to the ground, not knowing what else to say.

“Do you-” “Would you-” you both tried to talk at the same time and you gestured for him to continue but he refused. “No, you go first,” he said and you sighed.

“I wanted to ask you if you think that we could go out again and not argue, ‘cause I really enjoyed today.” You awkwardly said, suddenly finding your shoes very interesting.

“That’s what I was gonna ask!” He laughed and you looked at him wide eyed.

“So I’m guessing that’s a yes?” you said and he nodded. “Of course it is.” You smiled hearing his words.

“Goodnight, y/n.” he said and moved to wrap his arms around you in a hug. You hugged him back, squeezing him a little, a habit you’ve always had, before you pulled back and looked at him. “Goodnight, Chenle.” You said and he swore his heart skipped a beat.

Why did he suddenly feel this way?
