My silly little headcanon is that Val is her camp nickname and her real name is something completely different, but "Val" is used so much it has become her main nickname. And the one time Ashlyn called her Valerie that was just Ash falsly extrapolating a name. (No way that would ever turn out to be canon but I think it would be funny)

also can i just say how nice it was to hear someone on mainstream media be able to say the word “bi” when coming out. there wasn’t any fancy jargon to dance around the word like it’s dirty or inappropriate or there’s something wrong with it, it just was, and i really loved that.
