"Kirk is the unpredictable daredevil with the logical Vulcan sidekick."
Hahaha! Nah. That’s backwards.
Kirk may be a tactical genius, but he’s also a major nerd who collects antique books and is a chess Grandmaster. He was so focused on excelling academically at the Academy he was called a stack of book with legs. Kirk is the steadfastly moral, kind, bleeding heart who wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s compassionate to a fault. He may throw himself headfirst into the fray, but only because he’d rather sacrifice himself than others, and has the faith that Spock will always rescue him, and Bones will be there to piece him back together.
On the other hand, Spock is a REBEL of the highest order. He’s a thrill seeking adrenaline junkie, who dives head first into danger.
People hear Spock say that he is too “emotional” for Vulcans, and think it’s just because he gets into fights defending his and his mother’s humanity. Maybe he’s considered too emotional because he cries, or struggles to hide that he’s overly sensitive, or that he lashes out at bullies instead of suppressing his reactions, but really, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Spock craves adventure and exploration. He may look like the model buttoned up Vulcan to the nakedly emotional humans, but to Vulcans he’s the kid who undertook the kahs-wan at 7, three years early. He’s the kid who questions everything around him. He’s a scientist who craves discovery, to be the first to prove the unprovable.
He responds to slander against his mother with violence, and defied his father’s wishes and broke generations of family tradition by saying a giant “Fuck You” to the VSA and refused admittance when they insulted his and his mother’s humanity, and left Vulcan for Earth and humans without looking back.
He may be the great grandson of Solkar, and the heir to the clan of Surak, but the other Vulcans see him as the human son of the illogical Ambassador who defied logic and Vulcan precepts to marry an even more illogical human. They see him as the first Vulcan to officially join a human led, militaristic armada that explores the deep recesses of space, deliberately putting himself in situations that force him to respond with violence and emotion.
Spock isn’t the calm, collected, logical exterior he projects. Spock is a BAMF, and don’t you forget it.
I don’t know how this appeared on my screen

the space seed episode of tos where they find khan and the ss botany bay is so funny because right off the bat you have kirk being like "yeah let's get that historian whats-her-name out there, maybe she can be useful for once" and it's like WOAH what's up with the liberal arts hate?? why is kirk being such a bitch to this lady for no reason. then you meet her and she's fucking obsessed with historical strongmen to the point of covering her walls in her own fanart. she lives on a spaceship in a utopian technofuture and she sleeps surrounded by busts of kings on purpose. her vibes are fashy and kirk is right to be a bitch, actually.
then they get to the botany bay and she's immediately driven to distraction by how horny she is for ricardo montalban under a thick layer of extra-dark foundation. sorry i'm gonna compare montalban with and without the makeup because it is SO distracting
also she refers to sikhs in the past tense implying that at some point in the last two hundred years there was a genocide that they're just glossing over. since she also calls them a warrior race it's also possible that she's just racist and somewhere on board the enterprise there are sikh crew members who dislike her as much as kirk does.
anyway you can assume that this is her first actual away mission and she fumbled immediately because she was so hot for khan but it's much funnier if this isn't the first time this has happened. every time they have to interact with a historical earth artifact she gets so horned up thinking about being a tradwife that she's rendered speechless. spock stays polite but kirk can't stand her. by the time kirk found out she was the type of person to paint her own portraits of napoleon and roman emperors to hang in her quarters it was too late to send her back and request literally anyone else. he's supposed to court martial her but offers to let her stay on fashy eugenics planet just so he won't have to keep her on his ship anymore. it's unclear if he lets her take her paintings or jettisons them into space.
Do you ever think about how Kirk had a "best friend" on the ship before Bones in Gary Mitchell, a man who:
a) deviously manipulates him into heartbreak for Mitchell's benefit,
b) shames him for not being "fun" enough when he's in a position of power,
c) openly insults intelligent and powerful women,
d) treats everyone cruelly as soon as he gets power and tries to seize everything for himself,
e) finds it fascinating that he can stop a person's heart for fun, and
f) tries to murder Kirk instead of admitting that he's a danger to the universe,
and then chooses to replace him with Bones, a man who:
a) tries to save Kirk from heartbreak at every opportunity,
b) gets him to smile and relax by being genuinely interested in how he's doing and telling him that he's great and respected just as he is,
c) openly toasts intelligent and powerful women,
d) treats everyone kindly as soon as he gets power and tries to use it to help as many people as he can,
e) cries about how people suffered when medical treatments were less advanced, and
f) says, "Jim, I can't destroy life, even if it's to save my own. I can't."
because I do
