Why I don't use "POC" to refer to someone who isn't white.

It lumps thousands of cultures, races, heritage and history under one fucking label.

do you know how diverse black culture is? It can differ dramatically country to country, state to state, and even city to city. Hell in London alone, there are vast groups of people with African origin. Who identify with so many different cultures. To name two, Somali British and British Caribbean differ so much in their cultural practice. It’s just plain offensive to group them under the same label.

Don’t get me started on Latin American.. walk from Mexico to Argentina and tell me they don’t deserve individual recognition..

Yeah it’s diluted in the states because your history is only hundreds of years old.

But fucking hell as a Celtic British person with vast heritage which expands into such a beautiful culture of tribalism and brotherhood. Stunning music, and historical Significance, I am deeply offended myself when I am grouped under this guise that there is no such thing as white culture..

I went to download festival in June. We met so many different people from different backgrounds. I was at one point. A Cornishman, Sat around a fire with a Scot, a Nord, And an Icelandic fellow. And the Icelandic fella sung us a traditional lullaby from his heritage. And it was moving.

So fuck off with your master labels and macro approach to ethnicity.

Pick up a book, go meet people, travel. Because sitting at home making judgements about other people’s cultures, is no less racist. Just because you call yourself a “POC”.

4: Have you ever dyed your hair? I dye my hair regularly, actually. Right now it’s black, but it’s been purple, blue, pink, blonde, etc.

how have i never heard of archive.org until today.. it’s an internet library that functions just like a real one, as in you borrow the books for 2 weeks and then they are returned to the archive. you can dl pdfs as well, but you’ll lose access after the 2 week period. it’s all free tho, literally just like a real library. i was searching for a cheap copy of this serial murder book from the 90s for my thesis and i found it for free on here. there’s like.. no gimmick at all? i’m so amazed. i literally just signed up and now i’m reading a super hq scan of this book for free. i love libraries.

NEW YORK, NY—In a late-night show interview Wednesday, Senator Bernie Sanders politely asked the nation to please stop mailing him books on basic economics, revealing that he’s been “absolutely flooded” with works on the most rudimentary concepts of supply and demand.

Sanders made the request after receiving yet another daily shipment of books from well-meaning Americans who simply assumed that he has never read a book on the subject in his life.

“I’ve got 1,200 copies of Human Action, 1,500 copies of Basic Economics, and 4,700 copies of Economics in One Lesson,” the angered senator said. “I’m drowning here.” Sanders also showed the late-night host a small mountain of children’s books on the subject of economics from the easy-to-read Tuttle Twins series, sent to him from Americans who assumed he had somehow missed classroom discussions on the value of a dollar and supply and demand while in elementary school.

Sanders further confirmed he still hasn’t read a single one of the books, stating that they look like they’re “full of harsh facts” and that he prefers a more emotion-based approach to economics. He added that he’s “a little peeved” that our nation has so many choices for books on basic economics on the market. “Do we really need that many?”

At publishing time, Sanders had arrived to one of his other houses and began screaming at the sky in anger upon discovering fifty-eight more books on basic economics had been mailed there.
