Parents, if your child suspects they might have autism or ADHD, please don’t deny them a diagnosis, because it could affect their whole future. They could end up not being able to go to college because it’s too overwhelming for them (like I did), they could have trouble finding or keeping employment (like I did); they could end up having to go to therapy, or even worse, having to be hospitalized (like I did). All because they either never knew what was wrong with them for so long, or they kinda knew but couldn’t get diagnosed.
And if you do get them a diagnosis, please support and accommodate them, and please listen to the adults who have ADHD and autism because we are not bullies, we just get angry when we see one of our fellow neurodivergents not being treated right, and we are all willing to help your child, because we know what it’s like.
