(on your point about Vale being in the garage more next year) Everyone seems so sure that this Ducati 2025 pairing is going to fail and Marc will be dealing with 2015 2.0.

But, if anything, I feel like there is more of a chance of Valentino and Pecco's relationship imploding. Pecco is going to have a lot to prove next year, and it's not even against Marc.

Fans have been increasingly down on him. This year's title fight being called “a championship of mistakes” doesn't exactly instil confidence in you as a rider. He's constantly mentioned in the same sentence as Vale, yet to escape his shadow, despite being a 2 time champion himself. I can absolutely see that growing into a big frustration on Pecco's part, especially if Vale tries to get more involved next year. It could really blow up in his face, from a still relatively young rider who is looking to establish himself firmly in the MotoGP cannon as his own man.

It had never crossed my mind, ever—that the one having problems with Pecco might be Valentino, not Marc.

It's a big possibility. If Valentino decides he wants to turn Pecco against Marc and use him as a pawn to avoid Marc winning the title, things could get extremely ugly, because yes, Pecco is loyal, but sure in his convictions and despite everything that keeps being thrown around nowadays—the truth is that Valentino is no longer competing in MotoGP. He can no longer control what happens beyond his team. It would be a totally different story if Bezzecchi was the one sharing a team/rivaling Marc for the title. Then, I'm more than certain he would have a say. But not in this situation; Tardozzi and Gigi would protect Marc from Valentino, and I will die on this hill. They know Pecco better than anyone and such a change in his demeanor would be evident to them.

I have lots of faith in Marc and Pecco's relationship; in fact, I think that even if they don't learn to love one another, they will at the very least keep it civil. But I also think they have more in common than they realize: they are both escaping from Valentino's shadow. Marc with that 9th championship, and Pecco being his student and fighting the constant spectre of comparison.

I believe they will relate to one another more than they think they will, because that 46-shaped anvil holding over their heads is no small feat. I think they will aid each other in the escape of the crucifix of Valentino's presence in their careers.

They remind me of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc during their time at Ferrari, as strange as it may sounds: they were very different from one another but they still learnt heaps of lessons during their two years together. The similarities are uncanny, if anything.
