I honestly can't wait for Alysanne and Jaime to realise that Cersei had a role in Shaena's death. I've read the series at least thrice by now, you're such a talented writer!

Sorry for the delay in answering, but this was so lovely to wake up to the other day!! Thank you so much!!

I honestly can't wait to write that scene. It's something I've had planned since the beginning and I hope I do it justice!

This sounds so evil but I wish Robb and Jaime had been there when Alysanne walked into the burning pyre. I wonder how they would have reacted.

Oooo that would have been so fun to write. If you’re evil than I’m evil, because I also kinda wish the same!

I mean, neither reacts well, obviously. For Robb, I don’t think it’s an image he would ever be able to get out of his head. I haven’t mentioned it yet, but it’s something that Arya and Jon have emotionally moved past. Once there is no more war, no more problems to focus on, it creeps in.

It doesn’t really matter that Alysanne lived, because for the hours it took for the flames to die Alysanne was as good as gone to Arya and Jon. For those hours, they truly believed they’d watched her walk to her death and there was nothing they could do.

I think it would be the same for Robb, if not worse. There would be nothing he could do but watch the flames, watch her burn. That helplessness is something that would nearly kill him, and it isn’t a feeling he’d easily forget.

In tmttw, he forgives her easily enough because he didn’t actually see it. It’s not entirely real to him. He believes what Alysanne has told him of course, but it is still something so far removed, so unbelievable, that he can almost forget it.

If he had witnessed it, I really don’t think he’d have forgiven her so easily. He’d be relieved, of course, but like Arya there is a lot of anger. It would be impossible for him to forget how agonizing it was to wait through the night, to know that there is nothing that can be done to save her.

I don’t know how long it would have taken for him to be able to look at her and not see her standing in the flames, burning. It was reckless, impulsive, and that recklessness and impulsivity is a side of Alysanne that Robb wouldn’t have seen before. He’s seen bits of it since her return, and I’m excited to explore that more!

As for Jaime, I think he would shut down. That is his worst fear (whether he would know it as such yet) realized before his eyes. It’s a numbing pain, and like Robb, the feeling of helplessness. He can’t even mourn Addam because he’s just watched his daughter walk into his funeral pyre.

He is of course relieved to see her still alive at the end of it all, and I don’t think he holds as much anger as Robb does.

Under that relief, though, is fear. Jaime has seen that recklessness and impulsiveness before, but not in Alysanne. It’s an echo, though distant, of what he witnessed in Rhaegar and even Aerys, to some extent. He’d have to wonder about her sanity, and I think he’d begin to be a bit fearful of her, of what she’s capable of.

Thanks for the question, anon!!! I had a lot of fun answering this 🥰
