Cedric Diggory I love Cedric. He's just the goodest, kindest, bestest person in the Harry Potter books. A genuine good guy. I grieve for him still, he deserved so much better. Drawing him was a pleasure. He had to be a typical popular boy, but also be approachable and warm. So I gave him fluffy jumpers and warm colours. He is, after all, a Hufflepuff and I bloody love Hufflepuffs. They're the best. Sidenote: I am working on a few character designs at the same time and it's taking a while, but I'll still try to update at least once a week. Love you guys, you're wonderful! <3
Cedric Diggory Moodboard
Hi there!! Could I request Cedric x female Hufflepuff Reader where he flirts with her and she gets all flustered and fluff ensues?
𝕮𝖊𝖉𝖗𝖎𝖈 𝕯𝖎𝖌𝖌𝖔𝖗𝖞
"Mornin' bug" the outstretched hand of your boyfriend, Cedric, narrowly misses smacking you in the face as he yawns and stretches. Last night you had accidentally fallen asleep pressed right up against him, and though your mind was too sleep hazed to process it then, it was most definitely processing the embarrassment now.
His face was so close to yours as he muttered about this weird dream he had, and though you were sincerely trying to listen your mind was too busy running rampant. Helga, he's pretty. And despite his morning breath you still want to kiss him. His arm is holding you to him firmly, and if he can't see the blush coating your cheeks because of your own brain, he can most certainly feel the heat radiating off of them instead.
But instead of being your knight in shining armour, he takes it as his mission to further your flustered misery.
"Where's my morning kiss, bug, hmm?" he taps the side of his cheek expectantly, watching in amusement as you scrunch your eyes shut and do Godrick-knows-what to try and calm your racing heart. But he's still not done. Not yet at least.
"D'ya like it in my bed? All cosy and snuggly? Must admit, it's the best sleep I've had in a long time, sunshine. We should do this again"
And the reminder sets you off. Cheeks flaming and heart racing as you think about how this is the first time you've shared a bed. For a night. Properly cuddled even. Oh Helga! You're in his dorm! In his bed! With him! What will people say, what will they suspect?!
A pained noise leaves your throat and your hand freezes in mid air, half trying to hide your face and somehow make this all be a wonderful dream, and half trying to push him away a little. His presence is suffocating you in a good way. And you like it. But you don't like that you like it.
Your abysmal decision making skills makes him laugh and he decides to give it up. Sitting up, he pulls the blanket off of the both of you. "You're fine, bug. I promise." he tells you, bringing you in for a comforting hug where he squeezes you tight. Grounding.
He has you sat on his lap and facing him with the way he was hugging you, not that you're in any position to notice with how fast your mind is going. "And i'm sorry for teasing... will you look at me now?" his hand pries your own away from your face, letting him get a good look at you. The eye contact somehow seems to ground you even more, and your thoughts slow to a pace where you can finally make them out.
"Are you going to speak to me now?" his smile is small, because if he truly smiles then he won't be able to hold back the laugh he's been holding down.
"Morning, Ced"

Why the hell teachers demanded for permission from student's parents to visit Hogsmeade but none of them asked for that when students got selected to participate in deadly competition between schools
November Prompt Day 1: Theater
Words: 681 | Pairing : Cedric Diggory x reader, sixth year
You hadn’t given it much thought at first when the sandy haired Hufflepuff, Cedric Diggory asked you to join him for a movie over break just before boarding the train home. It seemed like any other friendly gesture and students often hung out during breaks. Even Hermione had asked you to join her in taking up visiting an art museum over the break, in which you happily agreed.
“Yeah, of course,” was all you had managed over the pages of your crisp book pages and he waltzed away with a smile before settling into the compartment diagonal from yours.
Solora Hazelridge, a blue-eyed, black haired Ravenclaw, who whispers say, should have been sorted into Slytherin with her cunning cleverness, but managed Ravenclaw because of her wits and wish to the Sorting Hat in her first year, slips into your half-loaded compartment.
“Did I just witness Cedric Diggory ask you out on a date?” she chimes.
“A date? Of course not.”
“Cedric never asks girls out unless he’s interested, or so I’ve heard.”
“Solora, I really just want to finish this book,” you sigh, not wanting to give much thought into what’s happened until you’re alone.
“Just think about what I said. Hufflepuff or not, Cedric doesn’t seem to be one that chooses lightly.”
And in the turn of a page, she’s gone.
That was a week ago and now you stand in the slight unfamiliarity of your own room back home in London, staring at yourself in the mirror with Solora’s words echoing in your mind.
A saffron colored dress clings to your curves and a dangly, beaded purse hangs from your shoulder. Your usually pinned curls have been let down and cut bluntly against your mid-back. You hardly recognize yourself in this setting, but you don’t have time to dwell on your looks or the neat makeup plastered across your lids, nor the glimmer smeared against the plumpness of your lips. You’re supposed to meet Cedric in less than ten minutes and transfiguring into a crowd of people isn’t ideal.
You’d settled on a nearby alley to spare yourself the trouble of being caught by any muggles. You don’t want to be caught in a scene where the police deem the witness insane because magic isn’t real to those who don’t believe.
When you reach the theater, slightly out of breath from your detour, Cedric stands just outside, preoccupied by the list of movies on the dingy white placard above the ticket window.
“You’d think the best movies would be played when students come back home for breaks, but they always save the bad ones for us.”
“I’d say they do it on purpose, but Merlin, that’d just be bad for business,” Cedric chortles and finally allows his gaze to roll towards you.
His curly hair is pushed back off his forehead and he’s sporting his usually charming smile; the same one you found yourself becoming all too familiar with even in the crowded hallways at school and even in the Great Hall. It was the very reason you were so reluctant in your response. After all, a smile could lead to anything.
You and Cedric decide on something they labeled as horror and settle in the back row with a large bin of popcorn and two drinks.
“Do you think it’ll be gory?” He chuckles while settling into the leather seat.
“Maybe,” you taunt. “Do you have a weak stomach, Cedric?”
The previews glisten in his irises when he turns to you, smiling mockingly because he’s too manly to admit it directly.
“Do you?”
“Of course not,” you whisper, trying not to focus too much on his steady gaze, but end up failing miserably.
He gently strokes your chin, allowing his fingertips to crawl across your jawline before leaning in closer.
“May I?”
You nod, too stunned to talk and too surprised that a heartthrob like Cedric would pick you for something like this.
And as his soft lips press into yours in the dark back row of the empty theater, you find yourself wondering: why me?

You hesitated, thoughts of doubt and insecurities flooding your mind.
Sure, you had waited until all of his roommates left and you knew for a fact that he would be alone. Sure, you had gone over a speech again and again in your head about what you would say after he opened the door. But what if he responded negatively? What if he thought you were weird? What if-
The door opened in front of you before your thoughts could spiral even more than they already had and you froze, eyes wide with horror.
“Oh,” Cedric breathed out, coming to a halt when he saw you standing right in front of his dorm like a deer caught in headlights, “Hey.”
Merlin, how could you be so stupid? How could you think that this could in any way be even remotely a smart idea? How could-
You were snapped out of your own thoughts by Cedric worriedly calling your name, waving a hand in front of your face slightly to try and take you out of your trance.
“Present.” You blurted out, sticking your arm out in front of you with a small box in your hand, the speech you had prepared zipping out of your mind
He blinked down at your outstretched arm, clearly not quite knowing how to react, “Oh, thank you.” He cleared his throat slightly, taking the box gingerly out of your grip, clearly trying to push aside his confusion.
You messed up. You messed up. You messed up. You messed up. You messed up. You messed-
Of course he didn’t like you back. You knew that all along, so why would you even bother trying to put yourself out there by getting him a gift on Valentine’s Day?
Suddenly, he smiled at you. That kind, genuine, beautiful smile that you loved so much. The very one that made you weak at the knees every time you saw it- let alone when it was pointed in your direction. But this time, you were caught off guard more than ever.
“Hey, wait here, I have something for you too.” He quickly turned on his heel and disappeared back into his room, leaving you gaping like a fish in the hallway.
Less than a minute later, looking slightly flustered with his hair sticking up every which way, he reappeared. And this time, he outstretched his arm to you.
“Here,” He gave you a lopsided grin, “Happy Valentines Day.”
It was a box, slightly smaller than the one you had given him.
Without a word, but still staring up at him with wide eyes, you hesitantly took the box. He continued to stare at you with, wide, hopeful eyes though, until you slowly opened it.
An audible gasp left your lips at the sight of a beautiful, silver necklace sitting in the velvet box, a heart dangling on the end of it.
Your eyes snapped up to look at him, only to find Cedric smiling shyly and rubbing the back of his neck, “I-I didn’t really know how to tell you… that I’ve had a crush on you for a long time. And- and I just thought, ‘What better day than Valentines Day, right?’” He chuckled awkwardly.
“I…” You swallowed thickly, “You like me?” You asked in complete and utter shock.
He laughed lightly, “Of course, I thought it was pretty obvious.” He admitted.
You cleared your throat, “I thought my crush on you was obvious.” You whispered.
His grin widened, “It wasn’t,” He reassured, toying with the box you had gotten him, “But maybe this means you’ll go out with me now?” He glanced up at you hopefully with wide eyes.
“Of course,” You rushed out far too quickly before clearing your throat and repeating slower, “Of course. I’d love to go out with you.”
Cedric chuckled, “Good, good. I was really nervous about asking you.”
" remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right, and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of lord voldemort. "
━CEDRIC DIGGORY
sleep talking
cedric diggory x reader (no pronouns used)
warnings: none? reader gets stood up and fluff ensues
“don’t think about it too much ced” sparing one last look at him, desperately trying to fix the runny mascara on your cheeks. “i can just go and fall in love with a new guy, this castle is full of them and-“
he just tuned your conversation out. his heart clenched, just hours prior he had held your sobbing form. if it was up to him he would still have you tucked in between his sheets and wrapped around him, it was saturday after all. a sad chuckle left your lips and he immediately looked up to you, sitting on the edge of his bed with your arms wrapped around you.
“i just feel pathetic you know? like i really thought he was going to show up” you smiled half heartedly at him and he opened his arms up for you, as he always did.
“come on hun. you look tired and i know you want to sleep some more” you sighed and crawled into his open arms. nuzzling your head on the crook of his shoulder and his neck, inhaling his soft vanilla scent. his hands immediately went to rubbing circles on your back and running the other through your hair. you sniffled against his chest and he gripped you closer, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“you always smell so nice, ced” feeling your eyelids droop with the weight of tiredness, you press a kiss to his neck and let sleep take you over. he felt how your breathing started to slow and your grip on him went slack.
cedric took a minute to properly look at you, wearing his quidditch sweater which practically covered you completely. after you were stood up last night you ran to his room and jumped into his arms. he was mad as it already was, considering you were going out with some other bloke and not staying with him. where you were meant to be, in his arms. but to listen to you cry about how he stood you up and how you waited for him for hours until you realized he was just not going to show made his blood boil.
he saw as some tears slowly slipped off your eyes and ran down your cheeks. his hand was quick to wipe them off with his thumb, and then rub circles on your soft skin while still petting your hair. he wished it could always be like this, he knew it was meant to be like this. there was no possible way your body fit so perfectly against his as a coincidence, he refused to believe it.
“i love you.” his voice barely above a whisper. “and if only you knew that” his fingers were still caressing the side of your face and he knew better than to speak to you while you were sleeping but he couldn’t seem to stop. “if only you knew how perfect and how beautiful you are to me. if you could see the way i look at you. and how i admire you. how every thing about you is just so perfect to me. like the way your hair falls over your face during potions class and you-“
“what are you saying ceddy?” you said while stirring in your sleep a little. he hoped you didn’t catch much of his ramble. he knew it wasn’t time for him to confess how much he loved you. you weren’t ready yet. the time just wasn’t perfect, and he wanted to give you perfection.
“i was just thinking out loud about that divinations test coming up. you studied for it already?”
“it’s easy hun” you were always more affectionate when you were half asleep. pulling out all the pet names.
“oh yeah?”
“the future is clear ceddy. it’s just you” your sleepy ramble was interrupted by a big yawn and he could tell you were slipping off again.
“what did you say?” he looked down to your face. checking for signs that you heard him. “baby i need you to say that again please” he looked at you for a couple seconds before realizing your sleepy talk was over and you were dozing off for good. sleep had taken completely over you. he had so many things to say and his mind was running a mile an hour. but as he felt your breathing on his neck and your grip getting tighter on him he pressed a kiss to your forehead. a smile spreading on his face as he let sleep take over him too.

requests are open
this is for cedric diggory, of him chuckling or smirking whenever he notices reader's being too shy when it comes to meeting his eyes or everytime he pulls her into his arms, just those little couple things and interaction, but reader is really shy and soft and gentle and rarely raise their voice, which is very different from how confident they look upon, and cedric can't help but think reader's precious every time they're together. prefer gryffindor reader, cos i like the opposite dynamic of bold versus shy😖
𝕮𝖊𝖉𝖗𝖎𝖈 𝕯𝖎𝖌𝖌𝖔𝖗𝖞
You could feel Cedric's longing gaze burning into your side. Of was that burning feeling your face, from how red it was making you? Either way, the middle of a transfiguration class with McGonagall was no place for his lovey dovey looks. She had already separated you once because of his flirting and how much it distracts you, for Merlin sake!
Still, your hand trembled as you dropped your quill, bringing it up to readjust your red and gold tie. His gaze still boar into you. Was it getting hot in here? And why won't you stop tingling? You could barely hear poor old McGonagall over the booming of your heart in your ears.
But you couldn't hold it back anymore. Curiosity about why he was looking at you got to the better of you. Maybe there was just a spot of ink on your face and he was trying to tell you. If so, it's rude of you to ignore him and that's the last thing you want.
Turning your head to face him, you mouthed across the room 'are you okay?'
"You're just too gorgeous for me to ignore, love" he didn't even bother to mouth, going straight ahead and saying it out fucking loud.
And, as if that wasn't already bad enough, he winked.
Was he trying to give you a heart attack? Thank Godrick the class was getting dismissed, and everyone was too happy about that to care about the interaction between the two of you. Still, it didn't stop you from getting too flustered to cope for a moment, freezing for a moment only to scramble to messily pack up the next with Cedric's laughter in the background.
"Im sorry, love" he says as he walks oner, leaning down to kiss your forehead. Though, if the proud grin on his fave and the tone of his voice is any indication, he's not sorry at all. Not one bit.
. Cedric Diggory x Fem!Reader .
(Dress)
a/n: y/n is Harry’s sister
“C-Can you repeat that?” (Y/n) asked. Her cheeks turning a hint of red. As she waited to hear Cedric’s question once more, wanting to make sure she was hearing it correctly.
“Will you go to the Yule Ball with me?” He replied. If only Cedric could hear her thoughts. (Y/n) stood there silently, her heart pounding against her chest.
“If not that’s-”
“Yes,” she replied. Hugging her school books close to her chest, a smile growing across her cheeks. “I’d love too.”
Cedric’s mouth dropped in the shape of an ‘o’. He stared at her in awe, as she walked down the stairs towards him. A smile grew across her lips as she locked eyes with him, this felt like an utter dream to her. One that she never wanted to awake from.
She felt like a princess about to dance with her prince. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, he reached out his hand towards her, taking it with a smile she looked at him.
“You look rather dashing, Cedric.” She complimented.
“Y-You look beautiful.” He said.
She giggled, as they entered the Great Hall. Hermione was there with Viktor Krum, Ron, and Harry were there as well. Cedric couldn’t stop complimenting (Y/n) and she couldn’t stop complimenting him.
(Y/n) always seemed to make Cedric smile, from her awkwardness, courage, bravery, and honesty at times. He loved everything about her. So just seeing her right now dancing with him, in the most beautiful dress made his heart soar.
“I was wondering. If maybe we could go on at da-”
“Yes,” she replied. A smile on her lips leaning up and giving him a peck on the cheek. He spun her around and she giggled, looking into his eyes.
(Y/n) appears with Cedric’s body. Her arms wrapped around him as she sobbed into his chest. The crowd didn’t understand what has taken place and they all cheered.
She couldn’t breathe. Nor think. All she knew was that Cedric’s gone and he’s never coming back. The love of her life is never coming back.
“Y/n! Y/n!” Dumbledore exclaimed. Rushing over towards her kneeling down, trying to pry her arms off Cedric’s body.
“No, no, no!” She cried. Not wanting to let go. Tears rolling down her cheeks, “Tell me what happened!” He asked, and she looked at him teary-eyed.
“He's back, he's back! Voldemort's back.” She cried. Her lip quivering, “Cedric, he asked me to bring his body back. I couldn't leave him, not there.” She cried, sniffling as the moment replayed in her head over and over.
Looking back down at Cedric’s lifeless body. She stared into his eyes cupping his cheeks, “It should’ve been me,” She wailed, wrapping her arms back around his body as she cried into his chest.
Even though there were far more important situations at hand, more tears welled up in her eyes. As she whispered in his chest, “We still haven’t gone on our date.” She sniffled, as she continued to cry into his chest.
Just Friends - Cedric Diggory Imagine
This is a edited version of Series of Pleasant Firsts by shadowbriar, so if you like this story you should go check out their blog.
Pairing: Cedric Diggory x Fem!Reader Warnings: None
Word Count: 3k Description: When the walls between love and friendship start to crumble, will either of them be brave enough to take a leap of faith and tear it to shambles? Idk how to describe this story. It’s just fluff.
She watches as he tries to break his own record at stone skipping with a wide smile. He’s always been so gifted with outdoor activities. Both muggle and wizard sports. His cheeks are always tinted with rose color from the burn of the sun, his skin gleams from the sheer layer of sweat. Cedric Diggory is a beautiful boy, indeed.
She misses this. Spending quality time with him, just the two of them. Having separate houses in Hogwarts was starting to create distance between them. And it didn’t help that the friends they made were not in the same circle. Him with his popular little Miss and Mister Perfect friends while she finds comfort with the more quiet and reserved flock.
“Come and take a dip with me.” Cedric says with a smile, panting as he takes his top off.
“No.” She says shortly, looking back to her book “I’d rather stay dry, thank you very much.”
“Oh, come on! You’ve even got your swimsuit on! It’d be a shame to not test the water.”
She didn’t budge, glueing her eyes to the pages.
“I promise your book will still be here once we’re done.” Cedric says, as he gently takes her book away and tosses it to the picnic basket. “Besides, you kind of owe it to this lake. Remember how we would go here every other weekend? It’s been ages, so you have to take a dip.”
He didn’t let her have another minute of thought as he pulled her by the waist, practically dragging her to the water. Her screams echo as he throws her in, soaking her entire body with the cold water. She wanted to be angry at him for not giving her the chance to take her cardigan off, but it’s hard to stay mad at him. Especially when his eyes glisten as he laughs like this.
Their smiles bloom even wider as she begins to splash water on him. They playfully drown each other until he admits defeat, evidently letting her win just to please her. Now they’re standing close in front of each other with smiles still tugging on their lips, making the most of time to study each other’s features.
He's changed a lot. Cedric was always a beautiful boy and yet somehow he’s grown even more handsome, if it was even possible. His jawline is more defined, cheeks more hollow as he lost his baby fat. It was as if his face was sculpted by the Greek Gods and Goddesses themselves.
“You’re staring.” He says, biting down a smile.
“So are you.”
“Have I ever told you how pretty you are?”
She blushes.
“Any guy would be lucky to have you.”
And there it is. Any guy. Not I would be lucky to have you.
It’s frustrating at times how gentle and tender Cedric’s gesture could lead her on. There are more than a handful occasions where she could have sworn that he sees her more than a best friend. The way he treats her is different than how he did when they were still children. She feels like Cedric is treating her like a lady instead of a mere friend.
A lady, whose heart he wishes to win.
“Let’s not talk about boys. I have enough girlfriends chirping in my ears about them at school.” She says, rolling her eyes as she walked to the edge of the lake “I wouldn't be able to bear you lecturing me about them, too."
Cedric smiles, amused as he swims further to the middle “Why, what do your friends talk to you about?”
“You know, how everyone is apparently dating everybody else. How they’ve had their first kisses already and how pleasant a date in Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop is. All those sappy things I’m sure your friends are also on about.”
“You say it like it’s a bad thing.” He chuckles lightly “I’m sure they’re not half as bad as you say they are.”
“Easy for you to say. You’re always swarmed with beautiful girls who are willing to drop their knickers down for you anytime. I, on the other hand, am not so lucky when it comes to romance.”
“Come on, that’s hardly true. I've heard every single one of my guy friends talk about you at some time or another."
“Well, the next time you hear any of them talk about me, do send them my way. I’m tired of waiting for some guy to ask me on a date.” She groans. “I haven’t even had my first kiss yet.”
Cedric raises his brows, “You haven’t had your first kiss?”
“Nope.” She says while shaking her head. “Pathetic, right?”
She walks to their picnic spot, placing her wet cardigan on a tree nearby tree so it could dry. She dries herself with a towel, brows slightly furrowed at the sight of Cedric coming out of the lake too. He’s usually not out until the sun’s down.
“I have an idea.” He says, looking quite unsure of himself “But you have to promise me you won't kill me and throw my body in the lake.”
She raises an eyebrow, “What do you mean?”
“To tell you the truth, I haven’t had my first kiss yet either.” Cedric admits, cheeks looking rosy at the confession “I’ve only lied to my friends to get them off my back.”
“Who did you tell them you had your first kiss with?”
“You.”
She went mute.
The flush on her cheeks was probably more crimson than his now. His eyes were still glued on her, intently examining her reaction. For the first time in her life, she’s seen Cedric flustered.
“So seeing that we have a common problem and how I've dragged your name into my lie, I was thinking.. Maybe we could just.. You know, have this over with?”
She blinks rapidly, trying to process his words. He’s still standing there, unnerved. His eyes were awaiting an answer, fingers fidgeting as he waited patiently for a sign.
She hesitantly asked him, “You want to.. Kiss me?”
“Only if you’re ok with it.”
She silently pinched herself, trying to make sure that she wasn’t dreaming. Cedric Diggory is really asking if he can kiss her. Though his reasoning is plainly based as a friendly favour, she still finds it hard to accept the fact that he wanted to kiss her.
“Alright.”
He grins, sighing in relief, “Brilliant.”
“So how would we do this?”
“I- I don’t know.” He admits, sounding unsure himself “I mean, we’d just.. You know, kiss.”
“Okay. Of course. Right.” She nods timidly, trying to maintain her composure “Should I keep my eyes open? Or would you find it more comfortable if I close them?”
“Open them, please.” He says softly as he takes a step closer, placing her hand on her jawline “I’d like to see your eyes.”
She nods.
It’s getting harder for her to stay relaxed. With every inch he’s closing in, she finds her body to be more rigid, afraid that one wrong movement would make him pull away and change his mind. She wanted this to happen so badly. She's prayed about this moment for years, and now her dream was going to become a reality. She could only hope that he wouldn’t hear her racing heart.
“I’m going in, okay?”
She could only reply with a nod.
She closes her eyes as he leans in. Within seconds she could feel Cedric’s soft lips touching hers, gently brushing over each other. She could feel the electricity jolting through her body with every peck. For a first kiss, he sure knows his way around.
“Wow.” He breathed as he pulled away, eyes still closed as if he tried to cling onto the feelings longer “We should’ve done that sooner.”
“Shut up.”
She shoves his shoulder playfully, trying to hide her tomato face.
The kiss would certainly haunt her mind for weeks, if not months.
“So, uh, we’re still friends, right?” Cedric asks, rubbing his neck “I mean, the kiss.. It didn’t change our friendship, right?”
She bites down the heartbreak, nodding and smiling, “Of course.”
“Brilliant.”
Again, she could have sworn she saw disappointment in his eyes. As if he was feeling the very same bitterness she’s feeling right now. But as he said it himself, the kiss changes nothing. They’re still friends. Just like they’ve always been.
Just friends.
---
The Hufflepuff boy runs to her, a smile plastered on his face. The fact that he's been searching for her all over the castle is evident by the sweat trickling down his forehead. His face was slightly red, panting as he tried to control his breathing.
“Hey there Champion.” She teases, fixing his tie, which crooked from all the running. “Fancy seeing you here.”
“I’ve been looking for you.” He says between pants “You would not believe what just happened.”
Her brows furrow, intrigued at what he’s saying, "What happened?”
“I asked Cho Chang to be my date for the Yule Ball and she said yes!”
The smile on her face starts to dissipate. Her eyes were starting to look blank as she let the words sink in. He’s asked another girl to be his date. How foolish of her to think he was going to ask her instead.
“That’s brilliant, Ced.” She says with fake excitement, smiling, though it could not reach her eyes “I’m really happy for you.”
“Thanks.” He nods, looking proud of himself “I have to be honest with you, I was worried she'd say no, because I heard Potter was planning on asking her too. Thank Merlin she chose me instead.”
She nods, still forcing a smile, “Good for you, Ced.”
The rest of his word become a background noise she tries so hard not to show how heartbroken she is, feeling suffocated as the pounding of her heart rings in her ears. Though he’s always been surrounded with girls, there has never been one Cedric was evidently interested in. Everyone just comes and goes, becoming one of the many names mentioned in his stories.
She’s always known that one day or another she would have to face the fact that he would find a girl and have his world gravitate toward her, leaving her alone as a lost satellite. No matter how much she wanted him to know that he is her sun, she knows that in his universe, she was just another passing star.
“So, uh, how about you? I heard you're going with McLaggen.” Cedric says, bringing her back to reality “I didn’t know you two are close.”
“No, no we’re not.” She says flatly, not looking at him “He asked me but I haven’t said yes. I was waiting for someone else but I supposed I’ve kept him waiting too long, I should give him an answer now.”
“Wait, you were waiting for someone else?” Cedric asked, stopping her as she begins to walk away. “Who?”
“It doesn’t matter, Ced.”
The sparkle in his eyes dulls as he puts the pieces together, “You were waiting for me, weren’t you?”
“Just forget it. It’s not like we owe each other anything.” She says harshly, her tone coming out a little bit more rude than she intended “Besides, not everything has to be shared with a friend.”
Cedric’s eyebrows rose, looking offended, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I’m just saying,” She turns to him, hands balled into a fist as she tries to control her disappointment that is now turning to anger “We should stop gatekeeping each other's feelings because it’s getting toxic.”
Cedric was appalled. He doesn’t understand where all her anger was coming from. If anything, he should be the one to be angry at her. She was the one who’s gotten a date first before him. He should be the one saying all these hurtful truths.
“Fine. Consider said feelings gone. From now on we don’t know each other.”
She nods, choking back the tears threatening to spill from her beautiful eyes. “Done.”
---
Ever since their fallout about their Yule Ball date, they haven't exchanged a word. Still, that doesn't mean he hasn't gotten her full support through his tasks. Her worry was growing deeper and deeper with each task passed. Though Cedric won first place on the second task, knowing how Harry barely got out of the water in time was enough of a nightmare for her to live with.
Screw their argument, she thought. She’d rather have him break her heart daily than to live with the thought of him away, not knowing if he was safe or not. If she has to live the rest of her life with him being oblivious to her feelings then so be it. Any of that would be better than not being able to comfort him when he’s in trouble.
And so she finds herself struggling to meet Cedric. She squeezed herself into the crowd of Champions and their supporters but the Hufflepuff boy was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps he went somewhere right after the second task score announcement was made. Helping Cho to get warm or something.
But just before her heart turns desperate, she hears her name being called.
She could recognize his voice anywhere, anytime. Before she could say anything, Cedric has already wrapped his arms around her, engulfing her in a big wet hug as he pulls her close. Her body heat is his only source of warmth, gritting his teeth in coldness as he rests his head on the crook of her neck.
“I was so worried they’d taken you to the lake.” He says, frantically examining her face “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine. It’s you I’m worried about!”
“Merlin.” Cedric sighs in relief, pulling her back close to his chest “They’re trying to get me killed, for real. If not from the tasks then from a heart attack, I swear.”
“Don’t say things like that.” She protested, feeling scared of the thought “You know I hate it.”
Cedric couldn’t find the right words, so instead he just chuckles lightly, tightening his embrace on her. Helga knows how much he'd missed having her in his arms. He peppers her forehead with kisses, trying to ease both of their worries.
She didn’t know why, but the waves of emotions made her cry. The worry, the stress, and frustration of not being able to be there with him has driven her crazy. Now that he’s here, giving her the very embrace she’s longed for, she couldn’t help but to shed a tear or two.
“Hey, listen,” Cedric says, breaking the hug as cups her face, gazing into her eyes deeply “I know that things haven’t been pretty lately and I know I have the bigger part at fault for that, but I really can’t spend another day without you. If you want to hate me, then hate me but hate me close enough that I can still see and touch you.”
“Ced-”
“No, I’m not done.” He cuts her off, still frantic from the adrenaline “I know we’ve been friends for as long as I can remember but I’m willing to burn that bridge and build another one with you. I don’t want us to be just friends anymore. I want you to continue being my first. My first friend, my first kiss, my first heartbreak, my first everything.”
She nods at his words, and begins crying harder.
“And if you’d have me, I’ll try my best to be your very last. I know we’re still young, but being there in the lake- Screw it.”
Not wasting another second, he finally connects their lips. The very same feelings they felt years ago when they shared their first kiss by the lake washes over them. In fact, this time the feelings were magnified. Their despair and crave for one another has certainly enhanced their hunger.
She finds herself melting under his touch. Cedric’s kiss was more demanding than she remembered. This time he kisses her with greed, trying to make sure that she knows just how lost he is without her. He wanted her to know that she is the only remedy to his broken heart.
“Wait,” She says as she breaks the kiss, earning a confused and disappointed look from him “What about Cho?”
“She understands.”
Cedric paid no mind to his words before continuing the kiss. He has certainly found something new he hates most in this entire universe- being interrupted as they kiss.
“Wait, Ced.”
Cedric lets out a huff of exasperation, “What? What is it this time?”
“Mr. Diggory.” An authoritative voice calls from behind. Cedric has to bite the embarrassment down when he turns to see Professor McGonagall eyeing them with her strict eyes “You are expected at the Headmaster’s office along with the other Champions. I’m sure the two of you can continue your business later.”
Cedric nods, pursing his lips in embarrassment, “Yes, Professor.”
Professor McGonagall gives one last nod before turning on her heels to return to the castle.
She has to bite down her laughter as Cedric turns back to see her. Her cheeks were pink, embarrassed yet blissful at the same time.
“I have to go now.” Cedric says softly, smiling before adding “I’ll find you once I’m done.”
She nods, grinning, “Alright.”
He quickly plants another kiss on her lips.
“Just go.” She says with a giggle, smiling in between his kisses.
Cedric smiles, pulling her into another kiss before finally walking away.
She watches as his figure slowly drifts away. Her heart is still swelling from the new reality she’s trying so hard to comprehend. She bites her lower lip, trying to prevent herself from grinning like a lunatic. From then on, she knows that whatever first she has to do, she’s sure that they would only be a series of pleasant firsts with him.
