Only a few days ago, Cedric had been fighting dragons in an arena whilst three of the greatest schools in Europe watched, and now all he felt like he could do was lay still in his bed.

It was understandable to be tired after such an event, but he had hardly left his room since, and now people were starting to talk.

Even when he would venture into the halls of the castle, it'd be exhausting for him to keep up his cheery facade whilst being congratulated by yet another stranger.

More than once, you had brought meals up to his room on the worse days. You didn't mind doing this of course, but guilt tore at Cedric's heart. He didn't want his girlfriend trailing around and bringing him things, no matter how often you reassured him that you were happy to do so.

He was glad that his Professors had become more lenient on him, letting him skip most classes to recover. All he had to do was a few essays as a form of homework, but he could hardly manage to force his heavy emotions away from his mind for long enough to complete all of his work.

More often than not, you completed the essays for him, or read him passages from textbooks as he lay his head on your stomach.

Today happened to be one of those occasions. You were sat on the edge of his bed with a small textbook in your hand and Cedric's head in your lap.

His tired eyes were closed as he listened to you recite paragraph after paragraph about the Draught of Peace. Your hand occasionally ran through his wavy hair, making sure he was comfortable while he rested his head against your thighs.

"Y/n." Cedric suddenly said, causing you to move the textbook to the bed so that you could get a better look at him.

"Yes, love?" you ask, brushing a stray strand of brown hair away from his eyes.

"Cuddle with me?" he spoke, slightly hesitant to ask due to his embarrassment, "Properly, not just this. I haven't been sleeping too well since the... you know."

"You think I'll be able to help you sleep?" you ask quietly, only just louder than a whisper.

"You always help, but of course you don't have to stay overnight if you don't want to." Cedric replied just as softly.

"Of course I will," you nod happily, "I'll grab us some dinner and then we can sleep."

Just when you shuffle Cedric's head off your lap and stand up so that you can take a trip to the Great Hall, he grabs your wrist so you can't walk away.

"Don't go." he pleads, swinging his legs over the side of the bed to be sitting there instead of laying.

"What?" you ask tentatively, moving to be seated beside your boyfriend, "You do realise that you need to eat something, right?"

"How about we get into the kitchens later on?" he suggested, finding an answer that would please both of you, "We can take a nap during everyone's dinner hours and then we can sneak out when we wake up."

"Promise?" you ask again. Though it may have come across as overbearing, you needed to be sure that he would let you take care of him later on.

"Promise." Cedric confirmed, leaning to rest his forehead to yours with a sincere smile, a smile that told you that he wasn't lying.

You stare back into his eyes for a moment, then pressed a gentle kiss to the tip of his nose. This caused his nose to scrunch up as he let out a laugh.

That was one of the few times you'd heard him properly laugh since the first task, it was unlike the polite fake chuckles he gave in response to someone who'd approached him in the common room.

Cedric took you by surprise by wrapping his arms around your waist to pull you down to lie down with him. The two of you faced eachother, his arms still around you and yours found their way into his hear again.

But before you got too comfortable where you were, you yanked the duvet cover up and over the both of you so you could share it's warmth.

"What?" you ask in confusion when you see your boyfriend's eyes lingering on you for a little longer than usual.

"Am I not allowed to stare at my lovely, beautiful girlfriend anymore?" he teased, pulling you closer by a few inches, "I can't really help myself."

A small squeak of surprise leaves your lips before you could hold it in, so to hide your flustered state, you bury your face into Cedric's chest.

From this angle, all he could see was the top of your head and the soft strands of your hair that were splayed across his pillows in a perfectly imperfect way.

"You can't just catch me off-guard like that, Ced!" you groan in fake annoyance, voice muffled by his body.

"But it's so much fun!" he says, and you can practically hear the smile behind his words.

You mumble something quietly in response, purposefully not loud enough for him to hear. So when you lean back to look up at his face, he's raising a questioning eyebrow at you.

Though Cedric was putting on a front of playful confrontation, he was really admiring how you looked in the low-light of his personal prefect's dorm room, and how breathtaking you were in moments like these.

"I do mean it though." he sighs, revelling in the way you tilt your head up and closer to his.

Your lips were now close enough to be brushing against his, "I know." you mumble back sheepishly.

The brunette couldn't stop himself from pressing his lips against yours further, you'd drawn him in and he was happy to fall for your game. Your eyelids fluttered shut along with his as his hands gripped your waist slightly tighter.

It was an innocent, yet emotional, kiss that conveyed a lot of unspoken feelings towards one another.

But Cedric pulled back for a moment, as if he had suddenly come to some sort of realisation, "Sweetheart, could you promise me something now?"

"Depends on what I'm promising." you reply, only half-joking, brushing your thumb over the highs of his cheeks soothingly.

His deep grey eyes gazed into yours with a seriousness that you'd only seen once or twice before, "Promise that you'll keep kissing me until I forget about how terrified I am about everything going wrong in my life."

"That's something that I'll gladly do, Ced." you say softly, leaning in to press another tender kiss to his smiling lips.
