Sepasang mata biru laut, tubuh atletis, dan juga ekor bersisik mengkilat warna biru gradasi. Sosok ini bagaikan permata.

Genshin Impact: Fischl 101

Fischl’s quest in Genshin Impact was my favourite one - we’ve met a kind of shakespearean goth girl trying to throw some German words in her mono -I mean dialogue- to fully confuse everyone around her.

I catched up a few words that she mentioned whilst going through her quest and maybe some of you will be able to fully understand her now!

“Immernachtreich”

This word consists of three German words: “Immer Nacht Reich” which literally means always night realm, maybe something like “Realm of Everlasting Night”. I couldn’t find any proper English translation but it is indeed referring to a realm which is covered by darkness for an enternity.

“Mein Fräulein”

Was a common German way to address unmarried women regardless of their age. It is similar to “miss” and “mademoiselle”. Sometimes the elder generation still makes usage of this word although it is pretty odd nowadays (the pronunciation of “mine” is the exact same pronunciation of “mein”, not sure why the English VA weren’t able to say it correctly).

“Prinzessin der Verurteilung”

Princess of Condemnation

“Holy Lyre der Himmel”

WTF. I actually cringed so hard when I first heard and read this weird mixed word. “Der Himmel” refers to “heaven”. In this case, since it means something of something, the German attributive genitive applies in this context. I believe Fischl is refering to “several heavens” since it should have been written as “Holy Lyre des Himmels” if it was meant to be in singular. Please don’t mix languages - it’s always going to end horribly.

“Edelstein der Dunkelheit”

Gemstone/Jewel of Darkness

“Fischl von Luftschloss Narfidort”

Fischl of castle in the air Narfidort. I believe this is her own title since “von…” usally implies a last name or the title of nobility. In this case I like the German version much better.

“Ritter der Verurteilung”
