And it's extra sad when you realize that was it for him, that's the only life he knew. To him they were his ENTIRE family, his only reality, the only people he loved while to them he was initially just an expensive pet. He sacrificed so much of himself for the good of the entire kingdom only to be made a villain when his mind got too consumed by the demon.
