Honestly one of my gripes with the series is that Kaiji getting his fingers and ears reattached DID make them work perfectly again. It would have been honestly interesting to see Kaiji struggle using his left hand and being disabled tbh

This page is genuinely heartbreaking because after all he went through and all the horrors he experienced... Hyodou was right. He became addicted to the rush and feelings of these high stakes gambles and he might never escape.

The path of his life, for better or worse, has forever changed and he can't ever really go back now that he's so deep in these games.

This was really a turning point for Kaiji because had he just shut up and left with the earnings of Emperor he could have rebuilt his life and started anew but it was already too late the moment he stepped on that tissue box.

Tbh I really appreciate part 4 because after 2 and a half parts of one on one psychological warfare games it was honestly refreshing to see Fukumoto write another type of death game again.

One of the many reasons I love part 1 so much is the sheer variety of games that extend beyond one on one psychological warfare.

Tbh I kinda see the salvation game as an evolution of the human derby when it comes to overall themes and execution in the sense that both are games that heavily encourage us to make deeply immoral actions to come up on top and they are both games where you have to fight against those urges to truly remain human if that makes sense.

Anyways Part 4 good, I should give it a reread since I didn't give it that big of a fair chance the first time around.

Tbh I wish we had a version of Kaiji with Akagi as a protagonist just bc I wanna see Tonegawa go through the insane mental deterioration Washizu went through in E card.

Akagi doesn't fear death at all so all the readings tonegawa gets playing against him would be completely useless. And just the scenario where Akagi bets the max 30mm amount every round and wins every time making Tonegawa fall into sheer insanity while Hyoudou gets increasingly more and more pissed would be so funny.

If part 7 brings back the symbolism of E card with Kaiji (the slave) taking down Hyoudou (the emperor)....

I wonder what the final game of the manga will be but god, the emperor and slave symbolism would be so fitting here.
