HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WENDY !

08/12 || the happiest day

WENDY's official birthday ! Happy birthday!

"C'mon KEL... you're going to be sick." HERO sighed, watching his brother chug 'Orange Joe: Party Size Edition' that WENDY gifted him just minutes ago. KEL responded in gurgles instead of words, letting the Orange Joe bubble down his throat for impending doom.

WENDY giggled behind the scene while AUBREY watched in disgust. SUNNY, just right beside her with a similar but rather muted stare. BASIL held up his new camera on the other side, ready to catch the moment without anyone noticing. It was the happiest WENDY has been in a while. She wished the moment would never end.

A couple of months after the truth was revealed, it was finally WENDY's birthday and she was able to save up enough to by her dearest friends fitting gifts. KEL with his party sized Orange Joe. BASIL with a new camera (with stickers!). SUNNY with a new (personally embroidered) tulip eyepatch. AUBREY with bejeweled baseball bat (pink and totally not for usage). And lastly, HERO with the Ultimate Cooking Pan of Delight (new edition).

AUBREY couldn't take it anymore and left the scene, dragging WENDY to the dining room. Loudly and purposefully, she shouted, "If anyone cares.. WENDY is going to open her GIFT now." Quickly, everyone ushered into the dining room, gathering around.

BASIL held a rather large, wrapped present in his hands while walking in placing it on the table gently right in front of the birthday girl herself. WENDY looked at it in awe, much to BASIL's excitement.

There was an unspoken rule even before the MARI incident that the group will by a collective present for someone's birthday. But she felt pressured by how big it was.

It had a pretty yellow ribbon and a comically large tag that said, "To WENDY, from everyone!" She could tell KEL was at least tasked with writing and tying the tag..

"Why don't you open it now, WENDY?" BASIL smiled, gently holding her hand in comfort.

She looked around at everyone's eager faces and then let out a huge sigh to prepare herself. Slowly, with her free hand, she unravels the gift and it popped open, the sides falling smoothly.

It was a large bouquet of decorative chrysanthemums with a video tape inside labeled "reasons to love you". When HERO brought everyone to the TV, in the cassette tape played a long but heartfelt message from each and every one of them to WENDY.

AUBREY had to leave the room from embarrassment but everyone watched with a smile on their faces as WENDY reacted to their genuine feelings. It wasn't long until they heard a small sniffle from her.

For the rest of the night, they had a sleepover, catching up on everything and creating memories, a memory seared into WENDY's heart as the happiest day.
