Audience: Didn’t you have a flaming actor?

Neil Gaiman: Uh…

A: You did! He was flaming like anything. What happened to him?

NG: Erm…

A: Lost him already have you?

NG: …replaced him with foxes

A: You what?

NG: I replaced him with fennec foxes!

It won't let me post this without a comment.

Maclean's Magazine trashes Disney's Winnie the Pooh

Hello. Not an ask really, but a thank you. Your stories have always been some of my favorite but Good Omens especially has stuck with me over the years.

I grew up in the middle of the Bible belt, very fire and brimstone kind of upbringing. My biggest fear when I was little was spontaneous combustion, because I was told I was going to burn for my sins. I was kicked out of Sunday school when I was eight for asking too many questions. I thought there was something wrong with me.

Until I was in middle school and I read Good Omens. It was the first time in my life that I felt that maybe I wasn't a horrible person for having questions. Aziraphale and Crowley were like my best friends. And now, years later I still smile every time I read it. And the show, the show is phenomenal. I absolutely adore it and can't wait for S3.

It took a long time, but I've finally reached a place where I'm ok with who I am, and I don't think I would've gotten there if it hadn't been for you and Sir Terry Pratchett's book.

So thank you.

I'm so glad we helped!

USE LIBRARIES

you don't even have to read what you check out just check it outttttt

"Don't use Libby because it costs libraries too much, pirate instead" is such a weird, anti-patron, anti-author take that somehow manages to also be anti-library, in my professional librarian-ass opinion.

It's well documented that pirating books negatively affects authors directly* in a way that pirating movies or TV shows doesn't affect actors or writers, so I will likely always be anti-book piracy unless there's absolutely, positively no other option (i.e. the book simply doesn't exist outside of online archives at all, or in a particular language).

Also, yeah, Libby and Hoopla licenses are really expensive, but libraries buy them SO THAT PATRONS CAN USE THEM. If you're gonna be pissed at anybody about this shitty state of affairs, be pissed at publishing companies and continue to use Libby or Hoopla at your library so we can continue to justify having it to our funding bodies.

One of the best ways to support your library having services you like is to USE THOSE SERVICES. Yes, even if they are expensive.

*Yes, this is a blog post, but it's a blog post filled with links to news articles. If you can click one link, you can click another.
