can we like, have adaptations made by people who care about the thing they're adapting

I feel like Netflix Castlevania falls into this category they had some people on the project who definitely liked the series but didn’t quite get it and then they on top of that had a lead guy who just could not care any less about the series and bragged about using Wikipedia it feels like the only thing that their team saw in the franchise was ‘erm cool vampire fights’ and not much else which like yes the games definitely have cool fights and action but boiling it down to that is a MASSIVE disservice even the NES games have a cool story that could’ve been very cool translated into an animation but unfortunately the team they had just did not seem to care about that part if anything Mr Warren Sexual Misconduct Ellis was also just a terrible choice even just as a writer all he writes is edgelord shit (the boring kind) he knows how to make maybe three different characters and that’s it Adi was closer to a passionate fan of the series but also just kinda wanted to do his own thing with it and therefore didn’t help much aughhhhhh it’s exhausting especially since it’s an ‘adaptation’ that got mildly popular so it’s everywhere despite having very little in common with the source : ( incoherent rambling cw netflixvania netflixvania tw anti netflixvania castlevania reblogs text post
