a/n: this isn’t like…my favorite thing i’ve ever written but hopefully it’s okay

jin was throwing clothes in a bag, collecting his things from different parts of the house. you tried your best to move to him, to stop him, but it was like your feet were moving through quicksand, stuck and pulling at the floor. no noise came out of your mouth despite your effort to scream. you’re forced to watch as he walks towards the door, the ringing in your ears intensifying as he reaches for the doorknob. he pushes it open and steps out, and all the sound gets sucked out of the room with him. the room starts to fade black, the pictures on the walls and the floor turning dark.

you wake with a start, jin’s attempts at shaking you conscious finally working. you place a hand over your chest, letting out a gasp when you see him still beside you. he looks tired, but concern drips from his features. the sight of him, the weight of him next to you, causes a few tears to slip from your eyes, and you bite your lip to try to choke back a sob.

“oh, love,” he says to you, smoothing a hand through his hair.

you don’t say a word, silently rolling over and slotting yourself against his chest. your arms hold his waist ferociously, trying to let the relief of holding him wash over you.

“shh, it was just a nightmare,” he coos. “it wasn’t real.” he rubs a calming hand against your back, squeezing at the back of your neck. you close your eyes, trying to listen to his words, trying to push the dream out of your mind.

“you left,” you say, without really thinking about it. “you left and i had to just watch you leave and i couldn’t stop you and-”

“hey, hey,” he says, cutting you off. he tucks a finger under your chin, turning your face to look at him before pressing a firm kiss against your forehead. “i’m right here,” he says simply. you swallow hard, nodding at his words. he reaches up to brush the pad of his thumb against your wet cheeks, collecting a few strays tears as they fall. “i’m not going anywhere.”

you take a deep breath and press a kiss to his chin before resting your head back against his chest. the weight of him under you is the best reminder, he’s here. bad dreams be damned.
