I Have A Question That You Should Not Take As Criticism! But I Was Just Wondering In As Long As You Follow
I have a question that you should not take as criticism! But I was just wondering in As Long As You Follow why the Texas scientists wouldn't just send a car up to Jackson to grab Ellie instead of letting them take weeks / months? to get to them on foot? Because they have cars and patrol and everything?
I definitely don't take this as criticism, lol. But the answer to this question is a two-parter:
1.) As far as Amos and Alexei knew, Ellie & Co did have access to vehicles. It's mentioned in GYOW that the settlement has a couple of trucks, and they also retained the Yukon after Alexei and Amos left the settlement three years prior in one of Otto's vehicles. They had no way of knowing the Yukon was out of commission, or that the trucks weren't available (also touched upon in GYOW - they use them for plowing in the winter, and occasionally supply / hunting runs, but they aren't reliable for long-distance trips).
If Ellie had held her horses (pun intended) for one damn minute, everyone could have traveled down with Otto when he arrived with a vehicle a few weeks later (not that it would have gotten them any further than Amarillo, where the engine blew). Or they could have communicated with Galveston when it became apparent that they would have to go via horse, and then Galveston may have sent someone. Even so, it's a dangerous trip no matter what and, not wanting to put anyone else in danger, Ellie made the kneejerk decision to immediately run off with Shimmer - though there was no way Joel & Benny weren't going to immediately follow.
2.) It was necessary to the plot, this cross-country trip. đ¤ˇ
Also, if anyone is interested in the math: Ellie left Jackson in the late hours of March 20th, 2030, and Joel and Benny followed the morning of March 21st. Ellie reached Galveston with Tommy on May 7th, after one month and sixteen days of travel. Joel and Benny arrived in Galveston May 13th, one month and twenty-two days after leaving Jackson.
Tommy didn't leave Jackson until Otto arrived, around April 8th or 9th or so, catching up with everyone else in Amarillo around the 10th. He arrived with Ellie to Galveston on May 7th, so was only on the road for about a month.

I feel attacked.

I just want you to know that I read Go Your Own Way in just a couple of days and am now most of the way through the sequel and I am in love. There are a lot of fics that pair Joel with ocs and then present a pregnancy but I just really appreciate that you went the other way about it and have shown another side and that you have approached that subject with such compassion. Your OC is so well developed, I just love her. I really hope those two manage to have a happy ending but also I am hoping she doesn't have a surprise pregnancy or something, though I don't think you would do that. I can't wait to catch up!
Hi, anon. And thank you - glad you've enjoyed my blorbos. âşď¸
I struggle with the concept of motherhood, myself, and these fics are part of how I work through that. I'm not really trying to say anything about anyone else's fics by writing my version of it, you know? That's the great thing about fanfiction; there are so many different ways to write things, and there's truly something for everyone, haha.
I thought it was important for them to try to find happiness in other ways, considering this - which is the reality of many people (myself included). The characters all mean a lot to me, and I'm happy to have been able to share their (mis)adventures with other people, and that others have enjoyed them.
i would like "christmas smut????" pretty pls and thank
Oh man, that one is so fragmented that I actually don't have a solid snip to share. But the plot is simple:
It's Joel and Benny's first Christmas together (which means they've been living together for about six months, but aren't married yet), and they're eventually convinced to join in on the adults-only Christmas party that happens at the Bison every year. (Joel didn't go, the previous year - he doesn't even really want to go now, but if she's going, he figures he might as well.)
Anyway, Tommy is a terrible influence, and Joel ends up pretty tipsy, and he and Benny have a ~moment in the bathroom, but she won't fuck him because he's drunk and she isn't, and tbh that probably doesn't sound hilarious but it is because he's so offended about it. (âSober me would be perfectly fine with you takinâ advantage of drunk me. Would encourage it, even. Promise.â) She tells him not to drink more that night, he grudgingly agrees. She then proceeds to get absolutely hammered (with Alexei, of course) because that seems like a great plan, catching up so they can both be drunk and then fuck. Benny does not hold her liquor well. Chaos reigns. Nobody fucks anybody else, he spends most of that night holding her hair back for her, and they spend most of the next day hungover as all hell. ~Romantic. But they bang eventually.
i dont âhave ptsdâ thatâs all just the wizardâs curse

so how we doing out there
