Crossing Cale Henituse had always been unthinkable, for he was heavily protected by his family’s wealth and power. This was the misconception of prey who didn’t understand their own ecosystem.

Everyone thought they were the ones letting things slide, blissfully unaware that Cale was the benevolent party all along.

He was like an indifferent predator who let the small parasitic life-forms cling to him. They were far too insignificant to actually harm him, and he saw certain benefits to their actions. It was mutually beneficial even if they had no clue about this themselves.

Count Deruth would take care of anyone who wronged his son, without a doubt.

… but who said that Cale needed his father’s protection, to begin with?
