I need to make the ugliest cover possible for a self pub, please give me pointers on how I can best make my readers' eyes bleed.

the trick is bleeding cowboy.

everyone thinks the ugliest font is comic sans or maybe papyrus, but that’s low-hanging fruit, man, the obvious answer. to get a really heinous cover you gotta make a slightly deeper cut. (and then use papyrus or comic sans as your secondary and tertiary typefaces. and throw arial and times new roman in there for good measure, you can never have too many fonts!)

Next stop: DROP SHADOWS. if your text is still readable, you don’t have enough.

The main event, of course, is ALARMINGLY bad photoshopping of models, ideally with some nightmarish “supernatural” effects. Chuck Tingle is a master of doing this intentionally:

I see posts with hundreds of reblogs saying the only reason we like Arya is because she's not traditionally feminine. And that she will not date or hold a position other than as a bodyguard or assassin. She's not a lady.

Why can't she be like Xena?

Xena can check off plenty of the feminine stereotypes; long hair, big breasts, lots of romances, often wears skirts & dresses, been married, gave birth, referred to as a "princess", sings, dances, sews, cooks.

But it doesn't stop her from leading armies into battle, traveling the world, going on undercover missions, or learning tracking, acrobatics, healing, foreign languages, & martial arts. Xena does not act like a man. She's a renaissance woman.
