well, clearly that was not that ー this was law's kid, after all. if there was any baby he would make an exception for, it would be her. hell, she could even bite him, too, if she wanted. not that he expected her too, but who knows? maybe biting people is just what babies did. ❝ the whole time i was there, doffy thought that was the thing that made me hate kids. or, pretend to hate kids, i mean. ❞

Like an over protective mother cat, Nami only chose to offer up her little one she trusted with her… and she was not typically known to trust just anyone. It was the highest honor to be offered a chance to hold the midnight haired and golden eyed baby, decked out in a heart patterned onesee, complete with a matching bow for the occasion. Meeting one's namesake was not an every day occurrences after all, and Nami believed in assuring the youngest of heart pirates was always properly dressed.

Features softened from the display of the ex-marine, a giggle slipping out. This is the reason she knew she could trust the large man with her baby, knowing he had her protection at the top of mind despite afflictions that could potentially cause harm… As if Nami would trust her child with anyone she feared would hurt her and would claw out the eyes of anyone just for the offense of looking at her wrong.

“Don't worry, she's not nearly as fragile as she looks and I will be right here.” Carefully cradling the back of her head, Nami sat down amongst the pillows to join the blonde and little bundle that was her daughter. There was something about babies that was so naturally relaxing, and if you asked Nami it was impossible not to look upon Cora-chan's cherub face without feeling a sense of calm. Fingers brushed along soft little curls that started to form along the back of her head while she slept on, content to snooze in anyone's arms after having been passed amongst her mother, sister and every heart pirate.

i think law deserves a thread where he infodumps about comics to cora, who knows absolutely nothing, like the nerd he is.

[ ATTENTION ]: sender, having just noticed something strange or remarkable, calls for the receiver to get their attention. (this one. said quietly, but with a frown as he holds up a newspaper to indicate a headline he's just picked up on.)

　rosinante didn't immediately hear law calling his name, back turned with several paces of distance between them. the sound of rushing water didn't help either.

the pair had camped next to a stream last night and he was taking full advantage of that, still half-dressed and scrubbing his upper body with a washcloth. 'freshening up' via a sponge bath with icy river water would never be the ideal when soap, hot water heaters & plumbing existed ー but when options were limited, it was important to get creative. besides,

he was fine with this; there was an odd nostalgia about having no other option but to bathe in the river. after a moment, law approached his shoulder, newspaper in hand, pestering him again to look. when rosinante did, their frowns matched. he clicked his tongue.

　❝ ...all right, so... we can just go ahead and check that hospital off the list, then, ❞ he muttered, sheepishly.

whoops. word clearly traveled much faster on this island than the older man thought; news of the pair's 'reign of terror' ー well, let's be honest, it was rosinante raining terror on people ー at the hospital they had visited the previous morning was already on the front pages. and if the news coo had been able to pick out law amongst the trees and successfully deliver the paper, there was little chance that the town they were heading towards (the last on rosinante's list for this island) would already be expecting them. a big safety risk. best to skip the town altogether and get an early start on the next one.

　❝ but, uh... look on the bright side ー we're lucky the news coo saw you and dropped that for us. so, we're prepared! imagine if we didn't know and walked into a trap, right? could have been a tough situation to get out of. ❞

they had enough food to last them another week or two, right? he'd have to check.

cue law re-boarding the polar tang with a lipstick smudge on his forehead like spongebob in that one episode where he visits his grandma's house.
