Do you mind sharing some more about reborntale, particularly rebornfell? I havent seen much of it and im curious

To start the official blog for Reborntale is located here, but I’ll try to summarize a general idea here too.

Reborntale is an AU where when a monster dies, they are reborn as either an angel or demon based upon their mental state at death. For example, classic Papyrus is reborn as an angel because he genuinely believes anyone can be good whereas classic Sans is a demon because he has given up hope. (I hope this makes sense I’m writing this while half awake). Living monsters cannot see nor interact with the reborn monsters, reborn monsters can see mortals and have the power to influence their actions but not effect them directly. The barrier also does not keep reborn monsters trapped, so if they can find a passage out of the underground they can possibly go to the surface. While angels are reborn with large feathered wings that allow flight, demons are reborn with leathery wings that are too small to allow them to get airborn. They can, however, climb/walk on walls/cielings. If a demon can get their claws on a human soul, they get a huge boost in power, size, and their wings will grow large enough for them to fly. Consuming a soul also makes them huge targets for being hunted down by angels. Angels and Demons both act to maintain a balance, negative emotions of mortals power the demons while positive emotions power the angels. The universe is mainly based in an abandoned genocide run where the human does not continue on after beating sans, but leaves and vanishes. That’s base Reborntale. Angels and demons generally do not trust each other, and while it’s not unheard of for them to befriend each other it’s generally not approved by other angels and other demons are apt to try and take the angel for themselves. If a demon or angel is killed they perish, no dust is left behind they simply cease to be. Humans are not reborn, nobody knows what becomes of a human soul once it shatters.

Rebornfell is taking this concept and applying it to an Underfell universe. I’m just going to talk about my little interpretation here, and the fun thing about AUs is there can be many ways to present the same concept.

To start, Underfell is not a very happy place. There are a lot more demons here, and things are very unbalanced towards the negative. Reborn angels are rarer, and they struggle to survive. Those who do survive are either powerful warriors in their own right, smart and stealthy enough to avoid detection/capture, or they are kept alive by demons either by making a deal or horrible luck. In this universe, just as monsters needed to be careful about who they trusted in life they must be wary of who they choose to trust when reborn.

 In this particular universe, Papyrus has been reborn as a demon and Sans as an angel. I’m gonna be upfront with you guys, this started out as a one-shot comic just based on the idea of a rebornfell universe with a demon papyrus and an angel sans. And I’ve thought about how this came to be since this little project has gone on, and I have some ideas but at this point things are subject to change. The current idea is that, during his encounters with Frisk, Papyrus started to reconsider the way he acted towards other monsters and his brother. He gets it set in his mind that maybe...maybe he’s actually not a good person. Maybe he’s a bad person, surely everyone must hate him for what he has done. These negative thoughts are what lead him to being reborn as a demon. As for Sans, well, my current working idea is that in this particular universe he hasn’t completely lost hope and still believes he can convince Frisk to reset and save everyone. This might eventually be touched on in comic, or maybe not, we’ll just have to wait and see!

“Do you read a lot? What’s your favorite book?”

I am the sort of person who reads in waves, I’ll go long stretches without reading then devour entire books in a single sitting. Reading was my go-to escape from reality when I was in school. I’m really not one to pick favorites, but... Inkheart was one of the first books I ever reread- it’s an interesting story where some of the characters have the ability to summon characters from books when they read aloud. This is most commonly accidental and alters the reality of the worlds the characters are ripped from. I love The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, really I’m a real fan of fantasy and science fiction stuff.

I also have a hoard of field guides on plants, animals, earth minerals, because I’m a nature nerd. I have a guide on bird molting patterns that is my go-to reference for bird wings.

I also read a lot of web comics, and have most recently mainly been reading fanfiction. Oh! I’ve also been enjoying a series recommended to me by a friend called Silverwing- it’s a story about a bat and his heroic journey and it’s just the sort of thing I would have love to have discovered as a kid. (I’m currently on the second book in the series and I really like how the relationships develop between the characters). 

I also really enjoy the Discworld series books (I need to see to getting some more of them I haven’t read that many of them yet) and there was a fantasy book we had on a shelf for years I got around to reading a couple years ago called Dark Lord of Derkhom and that was a very interesting and entertaining read.
