26. What’s something that amazes you?

I am very easily impressed, I really am. What never fails though is watching other people making things in person- I swear it’s like everyone else is magic or something. I remember one instance back when I first started culinary school, it was the first day and we were doing bread. Hand kneading the dough. I watched as one of my fellow classmates flawlessly worked his dough into a smooth ball and I was blown away. (meanwhile I made a rock of a lump of dough- fun times. Don’t add too much flour kids.) 

This is especially true when the super talented people are much younger. I have a younger cousin who is just, unbelievably skilled at crochet and knitting. Self-taught, she doesn’t use patterns she just... knows what she wants to make and makes it. Absolutely blows me away.

Lovely addition to the comic! I still can't get over how beautifully you draw the wings. Those feathers must take a while, huh?

Actually those feathers are very quickly scribbled. I love drawing wings! I got a book on bird molt patterns years ago after a trip to the museum and it was super SUPER useful in showing how feathers are layed out on bird wings. One picture in particular has each feather group outlined on an outstretched wing.

Last movie i watched: Finding Dory (Finally got around to seeing it, it made me cry which says something cuz I rarely have an emotional response like that to movies)

The kind of stuff i post: Comic pages, sketches, with the occasional baked good or random interesting thing thrown in time to time. 

Do i do asks regularly: My askbox is always open, really if there’s a message chances are I’ll reply when I see it.

Why did i choose my URL: Well, my go-to screen name is Colbypuppy, and I had recently graduated and have a degree in Pastry Arts, and I thought I’d just be throwing up baking projects and stuff with the occasional drawing. Past me was not expecting what this blog would actually become known for.

Favorite characters: I do not like to pick favorites. I like too many characters from too many things. And then in shows like Steven Universe and game like Undertale I end up loving all the characters to some degree and for different reasons. 

Dream job: I never really had any one singular job in mind that really screamed “this is what I want to do in life”. Well, alright, I dreamed of telling stories through comics but I never considered those as feasible for a career path. I didn’t want the threat of deadlines and absolutely having to have something done and presentable by a specific time draining the reason I love drawing out of the process. Also, I thought I’d never be able to see a project through- I’d start out making something and then about 10 pages in, lose steam, and stop.

 TLDR- making comics but past me didn’t think I could do it. 

Number of blankets i sleep with: 1 big plush comforter.
