Comedicooze - Hyde Out

I had a space opera dream about some kind of warlord who was trying to select a new uhhh personal champion, I guess? He had all the contenders gather at his bonfire party and gave us each a series of riddles and relay race tasks we each had to complete during a set time.

As everyone scrambled to do as he said, I found a dark corner to hide in. I solved all the riddles and lay in wait for the other contenders in the locations they would be led to and quietly killed them one by one. I left only one contender alive—someone who I had learned everything about and knew to be foolish and vain and predictable. I let him finish his tasks and go back to the warlord, who assumed he had been clever enough to both solve his tasks, kill off his competition, and avoid being killed. I pretended to be dead while he was made the champion and personal guard of the warlord, pleased with myself for installing a weak link that I could easily break when it came time to kill the warlord himself.

Also, the warlord laid really beautiful colorful Easter eggs and I doubled back and smashed them all for some reason.

On this day, 24 July 1961, Kredelle Petway was arrested at Jackson airport in Mississippi along with her brother, father and another man. Petway, who was born in Alabama but was studying in Tallahassee, Florida, had travelled back home to participate in a freedom ride from Montgomery to Jackson. Freedom riding was a direct action campaign against unlawfully segregated public transport, where mixed race groups would travel together in breach of racist Jim Crow rules.
