imo my take is that it is not a separate sacred entity that capital must corrupt before exploiting, but rather an overriding impulse in human experience that encompasses all expression. all conversation, all drawings, all emotions, all beings, are artful.
liberation for The Arts can only come with a liberation from the Given Meaning of art, and the impulse’s incorporation into broad Liberation.
Artists phrase their being around their willful practise of Art, but this is a practice that everyone does (I could consider myself a ‘breather’ as much as almost anyone else).
Liberation for humanity is liberation for art bc they are one and the same. But it is only liberation for ‘artists’ in that it is liberation for everyone. Artists, on a semantic level, are not a distinct class (material factors will differ, show me an artist with a stable job) and so struggles for artists can and should revolve around similar spaces to broad liberation from capitalism (and I will be sus of art spaces that don’t engage more broadly with those who are repressed, but are not ‘artistic’)
honestly, art is fundamentally incompatible with capital anyway right? like the fact that art exists under capitalism is a bug in the system, and as it progresses it will naturally seek to erode the concept entirely
not really
'the military dictatorship executed thousands of people accused of being communists without any proof!'
would it have been fine if they had proof, or
