I know its almost impossible to make a top 5 list of anything. I was actually having a conversation about this with someone earlier. Its impossible because you have to take into every single jazz pianist into account. I limit it to 5 because the list is endless. I do it to see other people's opinions and favorites. For example, i dont know much about some of the players you posted... Al Haig, Andrew Hill, Hampton Hawes, Richie Beirach. I dont know these guys and now...I'm going to look them up. Thanks, bro. I think together, we can make a huge piano community, if u think about it. Dotan NegrinDotanNegrin@gmail.com
Yes I could never rank them because I think they're all great. I don't know your tastes exactly, but do be sure to give Hampton Hawes a listen: one of the underrated greats.

Further investigation reveals the piece to be Vine's First Sonata, from 1990.
Absolutely lovely work by another composer unknown to me. More in the nature of an improvisation than a composed piece. I cannot understand the motive behind such complex rhythmic and melodic notation, nor the masochism of one who would prepare it for performance, but I am nonetheless grateful. And of course ever thanks to @atonalitydotnet for showing it to me in the scrolling-score excellence of which I am so fond.

Michael Finnissy: English Country Tunes - Midsummer Morn
And here is the 2nd movement, presumably from the same Vine sonata. I like the kind of dual obbligato, if such a thing is possible, in two hands. I may have to obtain this score.
