My piano is mine only in the sense that I can kill it if I want to. I can set it afire, I can take an axe to it, I can line its case with C4 and blow it up. I can mistreat it, neglect it, or otherwise leave it in condition suitable only for the heap. Otherwise, my piano isn't really mine. I am just its companion during my life, for it will outlive me. It is not immortal (or what passes for immortal), at least in its intended use, made as it is of organic materials. Like me.

My piano isn't really mine. I'm just shepherding it. I'm just stewarding it. It will belong to another. "Belong".

I don't want to kill my piano, of course. I would never knowingly hurt it any more than I would any of my loved ones. But temporality is always worth thinking about.

Pianos get hot.

Aw lovely! I didn't know about this! It's been in my queue for a while now but haven't gotten to it. Looks like another inspiration.
