Too Much: Initial Thoughts

I want to make it very clear: it's extremely rare for me to actually like music on my first few listens. I am not educated in a musical sense. I just like what I like.

Initial reaction: I'm bored. Nothing in the production stands out to me. Interesting choice to have JK sing first, basically uninterrupted for the opening.

Rewatch with the lyrics: uhhh, I'm getting the impression of a whiny lazy boy...but not in a compelling way. The lyrics don't impress me but they also don't tip my crude/hate senses either. I think that feeding more into my boredom impression. I think I'm getting a hint that the musicality may grow on me with more listens but it's far too early tell. I may just need to find the right combo if songs to listen to before and after.

Random other thought: in the past 2-3 months I've been trying to open myself up to kpop music outside of BTS. I wasn't able to listen to any music at all throughout my day today though but a song is going through my head as I've been writing this after my two listens of Too Much. It's Happy Death Day by Xdinary Heroes. I haven't yet decided if I like this song enough to put it in a Playlist outside of my recommendations one but I did hear it earlier this week. Odd that it would pop up now...

On another random side note: I woke up from a nap right before listening this. While I regularly have vividly bizarre dreams, BTS-related events haven't been a part of them yet. Anyway this one was like I was onset for filming a series of Jimin Music videos. It was a big fantastical storyline connecting several songs taking place on a pirate ship with Jimin being the lead swashbuckling hero...and playing an intricate piano built into the ship. Oh and Tim Curry was there singing as well...

Anyway, there's my random initial thoughts of Too Much. Probably tmi regarding my personal headspace but it feels relevant...

I remember trying to find some hidden meanings in how the songs were grouped. I thought I was onto something when the two 'mirror' songs were grouped together to remind us of the mirror choreography...and then it stopped.

Oh well, they were wonderful to watch. Hoping for more from our beloved JM!

I cannot tell you how happy I am to see more content about FACE-OFF. I adore that song. Easily my favorite (non-hidden) song on FACE!

RM: Of course he was the one to figure out the flag at the beginning.

JN: Jin getting startled by Yoongi is one of the greatest editing moments.

YG: You wanna see the most adorable run? Just watch after he abandons the ATV.

JH: Poor Hobi, he always seems so bewildered in these games.

JM: Jimin absolutely wasn't messing around with this game. Clear MVP!

V: I really wish he would have tried a little more but he just wasn't feeling this game it seems.

JK: Poor JKs lost flag, picked up by a sudden green creature!

Production: There's quite a lot of on-screen text that didn't get translated as well.

Endearment: This one is slightly better than pt1 but just because Suga didn't make it as weird as Jimin did... not by much but enough

JN: Jin is definitely the best at improv. Perfectly timed chair kick.
