3. Something you wish a commenter had called attention to, but got ignored

Oh, this is hard. I love comments (who doesn't?) I love the process of having a conversation, talking back and forth about what I wrote or about what other people wrote (hence these asks as well). I guess one thing I could point out is that commenters tent to focus on plot points they enjoy, but what puts the biggest smile on my face are comments about style, tone and mood - like, about the writting itself. I have a couple of short fics with a bunch of kudos and barely any comments... and it eats at me, because I would love to know how people felt about those one-shots, what exactly they appreciated about it.

6. Something you love to see in smut

There are many ways to write great smut! When it comes to style I enjoy smut when it's written to be a sensual experience. I want to be immersed in that moment, that feeling, so I love when authors go beyond "anatomical descriptions" of what's going on and include lots of sensory information: how things smell, taste and sound; bodily sensations like tingles and shivers; tactile sensations like rough, smooth, wet, slicky. When it comes to what is actually portrayed I'm a sucker for sub/dom dynamics, and I specially love when characters get play both roles at different moments in the story.

Healthy relationships are the only ones I'm interested about. Why would anyone want to be in/fantasize about an unhealthy relationship?? Really? The mind boggles.

PS. of course no one is "healthy" all the time at all, but ya know, when it comes to being involved with someone else a respectful and caring partner should really be the lowest bar to hit.

Not only he'd hate the thought of her being a whore, he actually hoped she was highborn, which speaks to Jon adherenting acritically to westerosi values of nobility - there at fourteen in Game he believes there is something intrinsically better about highborn people. This is Jon III for you:

"Words won't make your mother a whore. She was what she was, and nothing Toad says can change that. You know, we have men on the Wall whose mothers were whores."

Not my mother, Jon thought stubbornly. He knew nothing of his mother; Eddard Stark would not talk of her. Yet he dreamed of her at times, so often that he could almost see her face. In his dreams, she was beautiful, and highborn, and her eyes were kind.

I'll admit I got angry when I read this passage. I was like seriously? the author wants me to root for this kid??

But then Jon has a whole arc to grow and in Dance he's all like "people are people" and "the living must band together, the end".

I love this line:

I’m just thinking about how at the beginning of the series, Jon would get angry if anyone called his mother a whore, and yet two years later he picks a former whore to be his steward and squire, even though it pisses everyone off. That’s some nice character development you got there, kid

I've got a snippet

"Have you been working on the pelvic thrust?"

She said it all innocently, loud and clear and in the middle of everyone. Fuck her. He swallowed. That was okay. He could take the high ground.

"It's covered."

Did he manage to sound nonchallant? No one seemed to have payed any mind to their exhange. Meera Reed was helping Sansa and Pod with the ring scene to the corner, Lommy was pacing and mumbling his lines to himself, Jon was next her, trying to learn the time warp. He shot a dismayed look at Gendry, like he was saying 'am I seriously the only one still struggling with this?'. He was, of course.

"The lyrics are literally telling you what to do, what could be so hard?" Arya chastised her brother. "Knees in tight, Jon! If your knees don't touch the move is never gonna work right. This is supposed to be insase. Try it again from the top."

She left his side then, and walked towards Gendry. Did Arya have to wear just leggings and a training bra to rehearsals? Really?

As she passed him, she turned her head to keep her eyes on his. "I'm gonna have check if that pelvic thrust is really covered," she said all serious, but he could see her shoulders shaking with laughter a few steps further, her back to him. She was out to torture him.

Gendrya prompt: Rocky Horror Picture Show reenactment

A modern AU where 16yo Arya Stark watches the cult classic for the first time and becomes obsessed with it (like any sane person ever). She enlists her family and friends to put together an amateur show and that has everyone and their mother going crazy. Hilarity ensues.

Sansa is cast as pretty and (initially)proper Janet. At first she wants to say no bacuse Rocky Horror is not her scene, but Arya convinces her to join because she'll be lead star and show off her beautiful singing vocie and come on Susan Sarandon is just awesome!

Arya wants to cast Robb as Brad and at first he says yes on principle but then he becomes a little weirded out to be Sansa's fiance in the story. Robb becomes director, though come on everyone knows Arya is the one truly in command.

They are 'Bradless' for a while untill shy and dorky Podric Payne comes to save the day. And he can sing, too! (Maybe Arya overhears him distractedly singing to himself and goads him into joining?)

Jon as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Enough said. Enough. Said. (Of course like Robb Jon just says yes on principle to anything Arya asks).

Bran as Dr. Scott in his wheelchair.

Jojen Reed with his ominous tone as the Narrator.

Arya herself as Columbia, because she is snappy and full of energy and also a dancer with an amazing range that can tapdance like a pro (but she couldn't sing to save her life).

Jeyne Poole as Magenta if we can see some animosity there, or Meera Reed as Magenta so she can be friends to Arya and do all the saucy backstage gossip.

Theon as Eddie, constantly trying to hit on Arya in their scenes together.

Edric Dayne as solemn Riff Raff.

Edric Dayne is initialy cast as Rocky because blond and pretty, but he's super uncomfortable so it doesn't work. In comes GENDRY all strong and handsome with his body oiled down wearing nothing but golden boxerbriefs. You can thank me for that mental image.

Rehearsals for this crazy hot musical wake up some unknown feelings in everyone. Arya and Gendry, up untill this point really good friends, become a horny mess.

Bonus: imagine the rehearsals for the number "In Just Seven Days I Can Make You a Man" with Jon and Gendry!!!

The title for this has gotta be 'Thrill Me, Chill Me, Fulfill Me'.

I hope this goes viral and someone writes this or at least more people can laugh at this post untill their teary-eyed like me.

the oak leaf dress

Hey guys. So. Did you know there is an actual, historical “oak leaf dress” made all of yellow silk? It is in display in the Fashion Museum of Bath, England. 

The silk satin dress features over 400 oak leaves, outlined in satin cord and chenille thread. The darker leaves on the skirt were created by actually cutting out oak leaf shapes, and backing the holes with silk net.

It’s fitting, don’t you think? These two need not be mutually exclusive...

When Tom Sevenstrings sings this song to Arya, she’s wearing the infamous acorn dress (green and brown, bear that in mind) and the dress has just been ripped apart in a ‘fight’ instigated by Arya - an act of refusal to conform with the proper little girl part. Just like in the song, where the maiden of the tree refuses the featherbed (but not the love). 

The acorn motif and the green color both symbolize youth and naivite. In the asoiaf universe we come across sayings like “the acorn dreams the oak” (to denote passage of time) and “green as summer grass” (which speaks to a lack of experience). 

Yellow/golden is the colour of autumn and maturity. Yellow is to green what the oak (and its leaves) are to the acorn.

“I’ll wear a gown of golden leaves” is a bold statement of maturity and ownership of onesef.
