Even if you aren’t into anime I would highly recommend watching this movie. It’s crazy how this movie can teach you about life, loving others, and so much more. The sound track is beautiful, the story line is absolutely incredible, and the film itself makes it seem almost real. I bet by the end of it you will cry.

What the Dear Evan Hansen characters want in a relationship

Jared - hugging, cuddling, being held, being spooned, playing with his hair, other fluff physical contact

Reason - the script goes into detail about how Jared is insecure, and the physical contact makes him feel important, worthy, lovable, and needed, things he usually would tell himself he’s not (aka he usually thinks he’s not important/worthy/etc)

Evan - someone loving him for who he is, flaws and all, someone who understands him and helps him though his anxiety

Reason - in Only Us he says that all that he wanted for longer than Zoe could possibly know is for her to just love him for, well, him, plus, when someone has a disorder like that or of any kind, it’s necessary for people close to them to understand it so they don’t mislabel/misjudge

Connor - he wants someone who understands him and isn’t scared of him and can help him see the light at the end of the tunnel and has a similar mindset

Reason - again with the disorders, and in the book he says that Miguel, the person he loved, had a similar sense of humor and they both had weird thoughts that piled on one anothers

Zoe - someone who will prioritize her and put her first, and see her for who she is, not who she seems like she is

Reason - in Only Us she tells Evan she wants their relationship to be about them and only them, and for Evan to focus on her not Connor, and in Hiding In Your Hands, it’s about how she puts an act like everything is okay, which is not healthy, so she needs someone who can break down the wall and reach her; reach who she really is

Miguel - he wants someone that he can trust and can trust him and someone he can confide in and can confide in him and a relationship built on honesty

Reason - in the book, he’s trying to get Connor to open up to him, and he implies that all he wants is for Connor to ‘be fucking real’ with him and have honesty

Alana - probably the most difficult, as not as many clues are dropped, but she probably wants someone who can keep her sane and relaxed but someone that still puts in the effort

Reason - she’s always described as a try-hard, especially with the Connor Project, to the point where she’s probably going mad with all of the stress of trying that hard. She needs someone a bit laid back that can keep her from exhausting herself, but not a completely lazy person, because they’ll only become a liability, so a nice middleground (sorry if that doesn’t make sense)
