Meet The Parents: Chapter 2
Meet The Parents: Chapter 2
My first chapter of this didn't really garner much attention, but it's alright, because I liked it enough to continue anyway. Also this is where I'm putting my angry energy towards my crumby parents for now lol.
Chapter summary: Their arrival went smoothly.
Her grip on the wheel was tight as the vehicle rolled up the driveway. To her, it was familiar, as was the majority of the route to her childhood home, but to Kisame, it was all new territory. Earlier he had attempted to distract her from her worries of seeing her parents again by asking about some of the more interesting buildings they passed, and it had worked well enough. “That building actually used to be a coffee shop, and before that, it was a tax filing office,” she had said when asked about a building. “Had a huge dinner there with some friends, and somehow we ended up getting cake on the ceiling,” she’d laughed when he’d pointed out another. Parking the car, she finally released her death grip on the wheel as she looked at the house in front of them. He still didn’t know why this was such a difficult thing for her to deal with. If he still had family to visit, he’d want to, but he knew that clearly her relationship with her parents was strained. What he felt right now didn’t matter anyway. He was being supportive. But they hadn’t sat inside the car for nearly 5 hours just to stare.
“Want me to get our bags out of the trunk?” He offered, startling her from her thoughts.
She smiled tiredly, shaking her head. “Sorry, yeah, please?” He unclipped his seatbelt and reached over to give her leg a squeeze, his smile at ease, before exiting the car and leaving her alone. Popping the trunk and grabbing their bags took only a moment, and another moment later she had joined him. Her moment alone seemed to have done her some good as she asked for her bag to carry. Grinning, he held it high, just out of her reach.
Still, she attempted to jump for it, and he teased by lowering it enough for her fingertips to brush against the bottom, only to lift it away once again when she sprung up higher than before.” Give it back you jerk!” giggling, she jumped a few more times, still nowhere near close enough to take the bag. Even if she had managed to grab a hold, there wasn’t a chance his grip would falter and it would most likely tear from her added weight pulling it down.
“Why can’t I carry my Woman’s bag?” She stopped jumping to pout at him, pointing to his other hand holding onto his own luggage.
“You can’t carry both bags and hold my hand at the same time,” she argued.
With a chuckle, he lowered her bag, but when she went to take it from him, he instead shifted it into his other hand, which was easily large enough to carry both. “Looks like I can, and whaddya know,” he took one of her still outreaching hands and engulfed it in his now free one, “that leaves my other hand sad and empty without you.”
Snorting at his cheesiness, she rolled her eyes but wriggled her hand around in his clutch till she was holding his back. The bliss of the moment couldn’t last forever though. “Let’s go,” she said with a sigh, leading the way to the front entrance. Kisame had tried to keep his own worries at bay, but now that they were feet away from the door, he felt all of his insecurities bubbling up. What questions would they ask? Surely they would want to know what he did for a living. Were they going to ask about politics? He really didn’t care to pay attention to that stuff, this world's governments didn’t concern him too much. What if they were super uptight? Maybe that was the source of all of his partner's dread. The first thing they were going to notice about him was his appearance. He was blue for God’s sake!
Kisame squeezed her hand as she knocked on the door, now searching for his own comfort. Firmly, she squeezed back, eyes locked on the door as the handle clicked.

Too Early
Summary: It's too early for this
Kisame was roused from his sleep by soft lips against his neck and the gentle tracing of fingers along his bare chest. Grumbling as he attempted to ignore the waking world, he felt the weight on his chest shake with giggles. Despite his tiredness the affections persisted, keeping him from returning to blissful unconsciousness. "Sleep," was all he managed to get out, his voice raspy with unuse.
Her breath came out in an amused huff. "Can't, I'm too awake and I'm bored," her tone was that of a child fed up with their toys.
With a groan and all of his current strength he opened an eye enough to attempt a glare. Even with his eye a bit blurry and the light in the room dim with early morning light, he could see the book she had most likely been reading since she awoke cast aside. His prolonged silence earned him another kiss, this time along his collarbone. The lazy trail of her fingers never stopping.
"Find something else to do," he grumbled, shutting his eye again and feeling the pain in his eye dim. This was met with protest in the form of whining. When this garnered no further response from him as he once again began to doze off, he felt her shifting, attempting to rise. His arm held her there, lazy but firm. "Wait," he sighed in submission. "Don't go loving on somebody else."
With a contented sigh, she leaned up and kissed him, finally being met with his own lazy kiss, relaxed and unhurried, sweet and casual. "Now why would I ever do that when I have such a handsome man already?" She asked him, leaning up further to press a quick feathery kiss to the tip of his nose.
His eyes still closed, he couldn't see her expression, but he knew she was pleased by his lack of fight by the onslaught of kisses she littered over his face, throat and chest.
It's really too early for this.
i don’t think people really get how little feedback fanfic authors actually get? like the effort to reaction ratio is so abysmally skewed here that a fic nearly 50,000 words long takes an entire year to amass like. 16 comments. someone reblogged a fic i wrote at 4 am and tagged it with a 5-word compliment and i can’t stop thinking about it, not because it was so nice but because half the time you post a fic you’re going to hear nothing and anything feels like so much
fandom culture is so, so good about giving artists the credit they’re due, but we gotta start doing that for writers too. you’ve got no idea how much people put into their stories and get maybe a handful of reblogs and a dozen-odd kudos. that’s not enough. writing is an endurance sport and y’all need to start giving fic writers a reason to endure it and improve their craft. encourage writers like you encourage artists. reblog fics, leave tags, leave comments, acknowledge that these stories do not just spring into being for your entertainment.
every single damn writer i know feels like half of their readers see them as a machine. that’s gotta change.
was talking to someone about being a normal person stuck in a reverse-harem akatsuki fic and came up with the silliest ranking yet: akatsuki but ranked by how likely they are to gift you a bouquet of severed arms as a token of their affections
1. Hidan. Hidan both rapidly generates severed arms and thinks they'd make a suitable gift. He doesn't normally keep the severed arms, sure, but he wants to impress you. He wants you to notice how cool and awesome he is and also, Hidan would totally think it was romantic if someone presented him with a bouquet of severed arms? He's definitely giving you an arm-bouquet. He's charming as fuck.
2. Zetsu. Zetsu has no idea what humans find romantic, but he thinks arms are tasty, and so he thinks Hidan's arm-bouquet plan is on to something. It's basically an edible arrangement, right? Zetsu will get you an arm-bouquet, don't you worry. Please notice him.
3. Orochimaru. At this point, your collection of arms is just funny. Orochimaru has a high enough emotional IQ to recognize this is not what you wanted, at all, ever, but now it's entertaining enough he cannot help himself. He likes you, and so he wants to see what you're going to do when he ruins your life. He gets you arms with strange extra growths and skin diseases and extra fingers, all smelling strongly of formaldehyde and wrapped in tasteful string lights. "Let me know if you want the legs too," he tells you.
4. Kakuzu. Kakuzu holds off on gifting you a bouquet of severed arms because Kakuzu is the first on this list to consider what sort of gift you'd actually like. He's actually giving himself minor anxiety over it because, well, he understands gift-giving as an act of affection, but the thought of spending money upsets his stomach. Can't you just have an enemy he can pulverize for you? ...oh, what's that? You're trying to figure out what to do with three bouquets of severed arms? Jackpot. Arms are both free AND you seem to be collecting them. Kakuzu will get you the biggest bouquet of severed arms yet.
5. Kisame. Kisame doesn't generate as many severed limbs as those above him on this list, and he probably wouldn't come up with the idea of an arm bouquet on his own. But he's also not a very inspired gift-giver, and he sees you tossing out your rotting arm-bouquets with a distraught look on your face, and it tugs at his heart strings. Finally, he has a thoughtful gift idea for you! Kisame has no problem going out and finding replacement arms for you. He's the first on this list to try and make it pretty, as he picks out only the prettiest arms and sleeves for you.
6. Sasori. Make no mistake, Sasori already has arm-bouquets sitting around, and they're the best-looking of the arm-bouquets on this list so far. The problem is that Sasori doesn't simply gift his art to people. For the first stages of his crush on you, Sasori wants to add you to the arm bouquet. It takes him a while to decide he likes you better conscious and able to have a conversation/spend time with him. Then, and only then, will he give you a bouquet of severed arms. It will be cleaner and better preserved than the other bouquets so far. It will be well-arranged and tasteful. He is going to watch you carefully place it in your room, and you will never have an excuse to toss it out.
7. Konan. Konan is bemused by your growing collection of bouquets of severed arms. She thinks your anxiety over it is cute. She was just going to give you a bouquet of paper flowers, but she shapes the flowers into delicate posed arms and hands. "Careful, they're sharp," she tells you, "in case you need to make more arm-bouquets." Your face goes all pink and wibbly. Very cute of you. You grasp the paper arms tightly. This is your only defense against these people.
8. Pein. Pein has his own collection of corpses he parades around and is unlikely to give their arms to you because he needs them. When he does finally decide that he is so dedicated to you that he can sacrifice his arms for you, it is an act of such deep, symbolic devotion that you will not be able to say no. You will simply accept the arms in quiet horror, Konan's paper arms clutched to your chest in useless self-defense.
9. Itachi. Itachi is not interested in severing arms or in gifting bouquets in general. However, if you're so into the arm thing, he will genjutsu some people into tying their arms together and presenting themselves to you like some for of mind-controlled, arm-based human centipede. Why are you screaming? Put down the paper arms; you wanted this.
10. Deidara. Deidara does think about giving you a bouquet of arms around the time Kisame sets out to make his. However, Deidara recognizes that arm-bouquets are firmly in Sasori's realm of displays of affection, and he refuses to stoop to Sasori's level. If Deidara ends up with a non-vaporized severed arm after one of his artistic displays, he did it wrong. Deidara follows you, whining about your arm collection and trying to gift you other, better pieces of art. It's an almost welcome change to the constant presence of arm-bouquets, except he also nearly blows your fingers off more than once. Deidara does eventually give you an arm-bouquet, completely on accident, when he has a very bad day and blows both his arms off. Please help him. Don't get those mixed up with your other arms, yeah.

I'm sure you'll have many more followers soon! Here's a chibi Kisame sending you love and support! ❤🦈

There's no way I'm managing to get anything fully written out today, but I also kinda wanna do something to mark my follower growth and to give back for all the love I've received. Then I realized that I've never said that my asks are open!
Currently, I don't think I'm willing to write full stories, mainly because the majority of my fics are for my own personal AU, but I'm willing to write drabbles and give my headcanons! So ask away if you'd like
