A Night Building The Argo ||

Intimidating. Annabeth looked intimidating. He would be lying if he said he wasn't scared. She looked like her. Besides the wavy hair and the rounder face, she looked like her. Same grey eyes, blonde hair, extremely emotionally unavailable. At least he thought.

She brought him food instead of letting him starve, helped him go to sleep instead of making him stay awake to do what she needed. When he frantically apologized for breaking a small piece of equipment she told him it was fine and helped him fix it instead of punishing him. It was an accident, they happen. He made her smile a few times. It was nice.

Annoying. Leo was so annoying. Loud, obnoxious, he's always moving. And he's sared. He reminded her of Percy when he was 12. Percy was more of "I don't give a shit anymore." attitude, while Leos was more of "I am in dire need of love and affection!" but they were both there as a coverup.

She noticed how he got uncomfortable if she got too close, how easy it was to joke and smile when he got caught deep in thought. He apologized for the smallest things. She recognized his tapping as morse code. He said "I love you" and "I'm sorry" a lot.

She remembered when he cried in his sleep one night. He asked someone to stop. She draped a blanket over his shoulders and he relaxed a little.

"Leo?" She asked and he slowly woke up. She smiled at him and his eyes widened as if he was surprised. He screamed and tried to scoot away from her but ended up falling on the floor, tangled up in the blanket.

"Shit!" He yelled struggling out of it.

"Sorry!" She said genuinely and he looked back at her when he got free. He sighed in relief and layed on the floor, wiping his tears. She layed next to him.

"Are you okay?" He swallowed a lump in his throat. "I'm fine."

She knew he wasn't. But she supposed all this is confusing. His best friend doesn't remember him, he just learned he was a demigod and was immediately sent on a quest and is now building a ship for a bigger quest he's going on. She was surprised how well he was taking all this. Piper cried in her arms, Jason passed out, Leo just took it. More than that. Fixed a dragon who went haywire, named it, took it to save Hera, and found an old bunker when he got back. As if all this isn't new.

Maybe one day she would ask him. But right now he needed someone he could trust to tell that to.
