I Love The Way Everyone Treats Melinoe In Hades 2, But It Also Feels VERY Accurate For Toxic Family Relationships.
I love the way everyone treats Melinoe in Hades 2, but it also feels VERY accurate for toxic family relationships.
The older kids (Zagreus in this case) get the worst of it, and are often treated with either disdain or ignored (even Homer refers to him as “the lazy prince” or “the blundering prince” and so on). Of course Zagreus fixes the family, after dealing with everyone’s seemingly inherent disdain and anger at his existence and time (ha) goes on…
And then we get to the younger sibling, Melinoe, and she’s the light of everyone’s life. Even Homer narrates her differently - with more a positive spin, awe almost.
Love it, so many layers to it. She’ll never know the disdain everyone had for Zagreus - and that must be bittersweet for him.

And I love ya but you stink to hell of whiskey
characters with no moral code are a lot of fun but characters with their own specific moral code that doesn’t align with the rest of the/their world are on another level always
i'm actually very okay with "there was no other way this could end" endings. if they gotta die, let them die. if they gotta break up or go the wrong way or lose something important, let'em. so long as it completes the story. only thing i dislike more than a forced happy ending is a forced bad ending

To Melinoë.
