In the early hours of the next morning, Namjoon wakes up next to your body. His first reaction, however, is not what he was expecting. With a scrunch of his nose, he sputters, spitting out your hair from his mouth. Struggling with it, his hand unwraps from your waist as he attempts to push your hair out of his face and towards the opposite direction. Moments later, once completely out of his mouth, Namjoon’s eyes spot your face. It takes him a couple of moments to comprehend the scene before his eyes soften.

Your features are completely serene, eyelids fluttering every now and then as your eyes move under them. Your nose twitches intermittently and your eyebrows knot together slightly on occasion. Briefly, he wonders what you’re dreaming about and whether you’re dreaming of him. He feels your warmth envelop him, your skin slightly tacky against his as you stick to him, your legs entangled with each other; as if you were glued together.

Knowing he probably only has a little while before you wake up, he marginally shifts away from you, so he can further take you in. The moment there is space between your bodies, however, your lips unconsciously pull into a frown before you seek his warmth. Cocking an eyebrow, Namjoon watches you feel around for him. Once your arm makes contact with his chest, you shift closer towards him, curling into his body before letting out a sigh of content.

Summary: After fake dating with no other intention than to later break up and make things awkward enough for your friends, so that they would no longer bug you two with how perfect for each other you apparently were, Taehyung and you realise things did not quite go according to plan… not when you realised you didn’t really want to break up once you were done pretending.

A/N: So remember how I was whining about not being able to write anything from the requests? I ended up coming with something myself ☠️ Idk, I just started writing and couldn’t stop until it was done ksñsjs so enjoy, hopefully? 🥺

Saying your goodbyes to all your friends at the small get-together that had been taking place at Seokjin’s that evening, you unconsciously reached for the hand Taehyung was already offering you to hold; not wasting another second to intertwine your fingers with his long ones and leave the apartment with bright smiles lighting up both of your faces.

“They surely bought it” you commented a few minutes later when you reached his car — only then letting go of his warm hand so you could take your familiar place on the passenger seat.

“Of course they did” he confirmed once inside, inserting the key so he could turn the engine on, “we’ve been pretty convincing all these months”.

Laughing at the way he had playfully moved his eyebrows up and down before his eyes focused ahead of him so he could start driving to your place, you shook your head in amusement as you turned to your side and looked out of the window into the dark city streets.

And as the soothing music you knew all too well from Taehyung’s playlist filled up the silence, you could not help your mind from wandering to everything that had happened during those months. Four of them, to be more precise.

All the sweet nothings that were said, all the dates that had taken place, all the lingering lock of eyes, the lingering touches… all the oh-so-addictive kisses you had shared… all of that, nothing but an act.

You see, after having your friends constantly pointing out the way you and Taehyung were clearly perfect for each other and how much of a lovely couple you would be if you ever just gave each other a chance, all of that while not really liking each other all that much to even call yourselves close friends at the time… you kind of start looking for different ways out.

And after having tried the most reasonable ones out of them, the two of you had decided to just go with a riskier one, but that would surely end up turning out in your favour: date each other for a very, very short period of time, only to later break up and have your friends feel so awkward about the whole situation that they would never again bring up the topic of the two of you being together in any way.

It was perfect, wasn’t it? Two months of fake dating and then you would be able to just move on with your lives, without having to listen what good of a match you were for each other over and over.

Only things don’t always turn out as planned.

And so, two months turned to three, and three turned to four.
