In the first episode when Carmy cuts himself he shows it off, asks everyone if they’re happy that he cut himself, demands his knife back. Then he goes to lick his wounds in private. When Sydney cuts herself in the third episode she hides it, clutches her hand to her chest, but washes it out in the open, in the middle of the kitchen. Thinking about how differently they handle their wounds, physical or otherwise, along with the pressure that comes with working in the kitchen. Especially Syd, who is used to constantly being undermined within these spaces.
