a/n: finally! everyone worked so hard/is working hard and it was a lot of fun to be apart of this. good charlotte was the first band I really loved, I still remember the first time I got to see them in concert. my story is inspired by their song screamer. enjoy~Â

The scent of fresh paint lingers in your nose as you bring in the last box, your best friend trailing in behind you with an armful of your clothes you were too lazy to remove from the hangers. A clattering noise echoes up into the space of the vaulted ceilings when she drops them on top of your sofa, followed by tired sighs. After a long day of moving your things from a crowded apartment with 4 roommates, you could finally steep in the emptiness of your own place. Plain, white walls and a small living space in need of your personal touch, it wouldnât be long before new memories filled the place.
âPlease tell me you have cold beer in the fridge,â Rose groans, dragging her feet into the kitchen which was only a step away from the living room.
You laugh, âthatâs probably all I have, I need to go to the store before it closes,â you mumble out the rest, checking the time on your phone.
She sings praises to some make-believe deity, grabbing another for you and opening them. Turning around to find an empty room, she hears you moving things around in your bedroom.
âTake a break, will you?â Her tone comes out with more disapproval than she intends but it misses your ears. You are determined to map out the future haven this bedroom will become. Rose shrugs, setting your beer down on the floor next to a small stack of boxes. She sits near it, pulling them to her while you hang up what clothes you can.
âThis might be a problem,â you mumble, wondering how youâll fit your clothes into the tiny space in the wall meant to be a closet.
She chuckles, opening one of the boxes to help you unpack, briefly reading the scribble at the top, âMISC.â written in permanent marker.
âWant me to take this stuff out?â She asks and you look without much care, still troubled over the closet space.
The first thing inside the box catches her eye and left to be forgotten is her beer she so desired; âhubba hubba, hello?â Rose takes the picture out, admiring the subject of said picture before looking up at you.
This time, she has your attention causing you to cock an eyebrow at the smirk on her face; âwhat?â You laugh.
She turns the picture around and no further explanation is needed. Your heart flutters upon seeing the person in the photo, drawing you like an alley cat to a dumpster.
âOh wow,â you canât help but giggle, taking the picture from her, âwhere did you find this?â
âThis box, who is this?â She is quick to investigate when you sit across from her, the marked box sitting as a barrier between the two of you.

Miss nala, I was wondering if Jungkook ever got close to confessing?

âWhatâs the most unexpected thing you have ever done?âÂ
Jungkookâs question caught you off guard, making you blink twice before turning your head to look at him, wondering if he had really spoken those words out loud. Things were strange on the hood of his car, the silence between the two of you had been too thick for too long, and even the wind had ceased its run amongst the leaves, expectant to hear your response. All around you, the blue sky expanded like a soft blanket, and yet all that you could see was him.Â
âWhat do you mean?â You asked back.Â
He shifted around a little, suddenly looking uncomfortable. You noticed that you had never seen Jungkook embarrassed like that, and something strange switched inside your chest â a weird type of apprehension, perhaps. âYou know, whatâs the most unexpected thing you have ever done?â Jungkook repeated the question as if that was going to clarify something, then caught his own mistake and explained it better. âLike, a thing that happened that you never thought would happen to you, and then you had to do something about it.âÂ
âOh.â You blinked again, taking in his words. You turned your head back so you could look at the world beyond the two of you, the beautiful view of the city many meters below. It was a secret little spot just beyond the townâs limits, up a hill where you two could escape from daily problems. And yet it seemed that something got brought along with the two you, like a stone in your shoe. âI⊠donât know actually. Thatâs kind of specific.âÂ
He chuckled, uneasy. âYeah, I guess. You can think about it.âÂ
You nodded. âYeah, I will,â you said, turning back to him. âWhat about you?â
âWhat?â
âWhatâs the most unexpected thing you have ever done?â You asked back.Â
Jungkook wasnât stupid, he knew that you were going to throw that question right back at him â a boomerang hitting him right on the forehead, making him lose his composure for a second too long. He also knew that his brain would fill in the blanks before he could hold himself back, the heartache that has been plaguing him for a while now taking hold of his mind. It wasnât a scream reverberating in his skull, more like a soft whisper, a mumbled secret that he was too afraid to let out: I guess it was falling in love with you.Â
âI donât know,â he answered instead, a forced chuckle leaving his chest. âGuess Iâve done a lot of shit.âÂ
You smiled â that beautiful, overwhelming smile that stole all the air from his lungs. He wanted to tell you, he really did. He could feel it crawling its way up his throat, burning like the sun inside his stomach. But he just couldnât. Not now. âItâs okay, you can tell me later. Iâll think about it too.âÂ
And Jungkook could only nod, because there hadnât been one second in the past few weeks that he hadnât thought about it.

Tips for Writing a Difficult Scene
Every writer inevitably gets to that scene that just doesn't want to work. It doesn't flow, no matter how hard you try. Well, here are some things to try to get out of that rut:
1. Change the weather
I know this doesn't sound like it'll make much of a difference, but trust me when I say it does.
Every single time I've tried this, it worked and the scene flowed magically.
2. Change the POV
If your book has multiple POV characters, it might be a good idea to switch the scene to another character's perspective.
9/10 times, this will make the scene flow better.
3. Start the scene earlier/later
Oftentimes, a scene just doesn't work because you're not starting in the right place.
Perhaps you're starting too late and giving too little context. Perhaps some description or character introspection is needed before you dive in.
Alternatively, you may be taking too long to get to the actual point of the scene. Would it help to dive straight into the action without much ado?
4. Write only the dialogue
If your scene involves dialogue, it can help immensely to write only the spoken words the first time round.
It's even better if you highlight different characters' speech in different colors.
Then, later on, you can go back and fill in the dialogue tags, description etc.
5. Fuck it and use a placeholder
If nothing works, it's time to move on.
Rather than perpetually getting stuck on that one scene, use a placeholder. Something like: [they escape somehow] or [big emotional talk].
And then continue with the draft.
This'll help you keep momentum and, maybe, make the scene easier to write later on once you have a better grasp on the plot and characters.
Trust me, I do this all the time.
It can take some practice to get past your Type A brain screaming at you, but it's worth it.
So, those are some things to try when a scene is being difficult. I hope that these tips help :)
