Ethics Of Witchcraft
Ethics of Witchcraft
Before I start, I’d like to say this is entirely my ethics in relation to witchcraft. I’m not out here to tell other people off for what they do, left-hand path is valid, cursing is valid, you’re all valid.
I’m drawing the line at death curses though, no murdering people, it’s impolite.
1. Cursing
I’m personally not too good with curses. I’ve seen firsthand what happens when some overzealous ass with too much anger and too little sense goes after someone with a curse. In my case, some of my students were cursed to continuously suffer burns, which translated to real life pain, by someone who will remain unnamed yet hated for all eternity.
You know what you did.
All binding and screaming aside, I don’t curse people because in most cases the level of trouble I’d have to go to isn’t worth it, and also because I just think I’d regret it. I don’t like hurting people, unless they hurt the people I’m protecting, in which case chances are I’ll bind them.
I try to be a role model, but I’m worried one day I’ll break my own morals.

2. Binding
Sometimes I need to bind people, and it can be hard to make that choice, but in the end I don’t regret it. Hurting the people I’ve decided to protect is a surefire way to get some stuff sent your way, one day I’ll probably snap and curse someone, I’m not going to lie about that kind of thing. They’ll pick the wrong friend or the wrong type of curse and I’ll go off.
For now though, binding is my go-to response for curses. Get rid of the curse, bind them from harming people, it’s simple and easy if you have some yarn for knot magic but you can use whatever you want for it.
Binding people from harming others is something I think is reasonable, and it’s as far as I’ll go.

3. Fighting
I am by no means a pacifist, as you can probably guess by my energy weapon post and the fact I’ve already performed a binding on someone. In a way fighting is an important part of me being a witch. If I didn’t fight, a lot of entities would still be stalking students and friends alike.
To me fighting is a matter of choosing your battles, knowing when you need to use diplomacy versus knowing when you have to be the one to throw an astral punch. Witches have to probably fight more often than normal people, simply because we have a lot more contact with critters who aren’t quite civilised, or if they are civilised it’s in a different way then we’d like.
Fighting for safety, freedom, and the people you care about is one of the most important things you can do.

4. Love Spells
Here’s something interesting to know about me, I have a firm set of values and a list of things important to me. At the top of that list is Freedom, nothing has any meaning to me without freedom. As an old Michael Grant book that taught me for the first time what it truly meant to sacrifice everything for freedom asked me. Is it more important to be free or to be happy?
So it probably therefore won’t surprise you all that have a firm belief that love spells are worse than curses. They strip you of your free will by taking control of your emotions in the worst possible way. They’ll make you sacrifice everything for someone without it truly being you in control. Unlike curses, I know I will not use a love spell under any circumstances.
I don’t trust people who use love spells, I will never use a love spell, and I sure as hell will never let someone use one on me.

5. More On Free Will
I have immense respect for people who just get rid of parasites from people, who chaotic good it up and remove demons or what have you without permission. I think I need to be friends with a few more people like that.
For the simple reason I don’t, I figure if I get rid of the parasite they’ll go and find more, or worse yet curse me as a result. So I leave them go, I always hope they come to their senses but, I’m not happy about it.
On the other hand if the parasite attacks me, I prioritise myself and kill it. I don’t care what happens, it’s my choice if I let it hurt me or not, and given I have enough firepower to get most anything coming my way. The parasite is dead.
I won’t follow someone’s wishes if it means I’ll end up hurt, but I do try to let them decide for themselves.

Bilocation Basics
Because of the success of the astral travel guide, I’m making more astral guides, I figured I’d start with a method of getting to the astral, my personal favourite: Bilocation.
1. Myths and Misrepresentations
Bilocation is one of the parts of magic that tends to be viewed as extremely difficult, I’m not planning on getting into the politics or philosophy surrounding witchcraft. Therefore I will simply say I believe it to be due to a certain kind of witchcraft elitism which treats astral travel, rituals, and entity work as some kind of Special Witchcraft that only the most skilled can do. This is mostly incorrect, although I would suggest being ever-cautious with all of these forms of witchcraft.
Books on astral travel will often tell you all about how bilocation is the most difficult form of travel, that any astral travel requires lots of meditation and mental exercises, and that astral travel will be a magical experience where you can see the world like never before. I’m not calling these books useless, there are many phenomena they record that should be known, and I will cover how those work in my next lessons, but they do misrepresent the difficulty of the entire thing. As known by some of the people reading this, who I was able to teach bilocation to in an hour in a half to the point they could collect and return to their bodies with air energy from my location on the other side of the world to them.
Misrepresentation: Bilocation is difficult and requires months of practice to even start. Truth: Bilocation is easy to learn and hard to master. Myth: You need to meditate to do any astral projection. Truth: Meditation is optional.

2. Starting Off With Energy
Now if I haven’t babbled about being an energy worker before then I’ve been remiss, because that’s by far my best method of magic. Luckily for you, if you’ve missed my classes or haven’t been able to get to them, then I’ve got a simple start for you. All you need to do is to start trying to sense energy further away, it doesn’t matter if it’s a foot away or another room. You just need to move your senses further away from your body than normal.
Have a look around, feel what you can feel, and try move around to different places. You finished? Well I’ve got news for you.
This is the start of bilocation, you’ve successfully bilocated your senses outside of your physical body and to the area around you! Give yourself a pat on the back, make some tea or coffee or lemonade then we’ll start getting into the harder stuff.

3. Getting Further Away From Your Body
Now, to get further away from your body, there are many methods, but I’ll be teaching mine as it seemed to work out rather well for the people I’ve taught it to.
First, think of things that would make you think of your spirit, sort of, your inner feelings, dreams, personality. Things like that, if you’re adventurous maybe think of an Indiana Jones style hat, punk and think of Doc Martens, things like that. Then imagine what I’ve called a “Mini” or a “Reflection”, a small version of you about the size of your hand, make it look like how you see yourself. Then move your awareness with it, try to link your awareness directly with the Mini so that you can simply move the Mini to walk around.
I figured this was more lighthearted, so this little chibi I found was allowed.

4. Moving Around As Your Mini
Moving around when it comes to your mini is entirely up to you, some people find floating natural, some people simply walk on air, and then there’s people like me who are dramatic and use ice skates or floating cauldrons. When it comes to moving, it pays to pick something that you can make very fast if you need to move with any speed. Ice skates allow you to move at amazing speed if you can do it right, floating can become fast flying, cauldrons can be made into super-fast planes, you get the idea.
Once you’ve moved around normally, it’s a good idea to stroll around areas you know like your street or neighbourhood. It’s a good idea to pair up with someone, if you’re on discord then definitely ask someone to practice with you. Use the electronics like a portal, and go further away from your body, it’s all about getting used to bilocation.

5. Getting Back To Your Body
If you’ve lost your mini, or don’t know how to get the mini back to your body, remember the mini is part of you so all you have to do is find the energy link between you and the mini, then pull on it. This will effectively reel the mini back in where it can merge back with you. If you’re in danger, then imagine it more like the snap of a rubber band, slingshotting the mini back to you.
After you’ve gotten the mini back it’ll often feel like you’d been missing a piece of you, mainly because, in essence, you had split yourself into two different parts. At the early stages it takes a lot of energy, so I’d suggest having a cup of tea (a tea witch could likely point you towards good energy restorers), and maybe a nap or a lie down.
If you’ve been somewhere dangerous, always get yourself checked for parasites or injuries before going to replenish your own energy.

Q&A For Entities
@cutesthoot Brought up some good points so I’m answering the questions here!
1. Fighting and Imagination
This was originally made as a reaction to people running into spirits during bilocation. So the fighting is specifically fighting using your energy/energy body/bilocation mini-you. Throwing a fit with your physical body may make the spirit leave if it’s just hanging around, but it probably won’t do anything in the end.
To see the thing you’d probably need to sense its location using energy, or if you’re bilocating then just use your astral senses to your advantage.
If it’s really leaving then you’ll know because of these reasons: 1. No attack is happening to you. 2. The area’s energy has changed. 3. It’s really hard to project so hard an attack appears not to be happening, so the chances are if you can’t feel anything then it’s gone,

2. Extreme Caution
Extreme caution basically means treat the entity like you’ve just met one of the traditional British fae. Be respectful, don’t agree to do anything, don’t give it any power over you, make sure every move you make is tactical. Keep an escape plan ready.
Make sure you have the upper hand.

3. Legitimate Concern or Drama
Honestly it doesn’t quite matter if it’s a legitimate concern or not. The diplomacy will often cover that as asking the entity to leave weeds out benevolent from malevolent better than most other methods.
If you really want to learn more about entities and work with them, I’d suggest finding an actual energy worker. I’m not that experienced with any entities other than ones that are planning to hurt people, so I got a lot of this information from a friend who I’m pretty sure isn’t on tumblr.
For Cutesthoot, I’d be super happy to have you on my main teaching server, The Salem Coven. Run by my good friend @brookiethewitch I hope to see you there!

Elly’s Energy Weapon Workshop
I’m doing an energy work competition on a server I’m currently on (The Salem Coven), so this is a guide to how to create energy weapons for everyone who needs a hand.
1. Creating The Shape
The shape of the energy weapon is the basis of how your weapon is going to be used. If you make a revolver, it’s going to work like a revolver. If you make a staff, you’re going to need to hit the target with it, because it’ll act like a staff.
I usually find it easiest to draw the energy I want from music, I’ll add a small list of the songs I use to create weapons at the bottom. The shape isn’t the most important aspect but it’s pretty high up there in terms of the creation of the weapon. Forming the weapon is mainly about visualisation, feeling the energy and shaping it into what you want.
The shape doesn’t have to be a weapon, for example if something has offensive capabilities but is shaped as, say, a bracelet. That’s still a working weapon.

2. Elemental Programming
Elements are the main method for giving energy weapons their powers, there are a lot of elements out there and as a result, a lot of different powers you can give to your weapons. Anything from using spirit to cut off energy, to using wood to mess with the enemy’s emotions. Light for cleansing, shadow for mesmerising. Elements are one of the most amazing and multipurpose tools in an energy worker’s arsenal.
It’s best to use elements you know you can work with, like for example air and chaos are elements that I can use easily, so I tend to use them in a lot of constructs and weapons.
To imbue an energy weapon with an element, first you need to summon the element, which can be done a variety of different ways but as per usual, there is no exact right way to do it. Do it however works best, I do it by imagining the things I associate with it to find it then pull the element to me.
After it’s been summoned, then you need to wrap the element around, or push the element into the weapon base. Then comes the most interesting bit, you need to program the element. Imagine that the elements are lines waiting for code, and you can telepathically give the element the lines of code that are needed to finish the energy weapon.
After you’ve finished putting as many mixes of elements and their code onto the base. You’re done! The energy weapon has been successfully created.
