Murdoc is - and i mean this very sincerely and in all love for my rottweiler serial killer mercenary for hire darling - insane in the brain in so many ways and that’s the problem, that’s the wound, the tissue of the issue in the severed leg Murdoc keeps in his basement. 

Murdoc points all his incredible and unfathomable and uncountable neuroses at Mac for no other reasons than that he is fun and challenging and Murdoc also wants to string him up like a cow corpse and make him sing and dance and perhaps bleed, because Murdoc, like a good supportive American, knows only death, sniper and unhealthy romances. 

He does this with such derangedness that you can’t help but love him even if you want to swing him around like a discus and smack him against the floor. He’s like the cat that’s gotten used to running the household, he’s the asshole cat that you keep shooing off the counter top but he still insists on coming back because how dare you do stuff without him, he is the most important thing in your universe, and he needs to know what you’re doing right this second so he can give you permission, even if that includes washing your hair or brushing your teeth, because otherwise he will lounge outside singing the songs of his people which is the dying screams of people he’s killed or the wailing screeches of people Mac has blown up because he likes the look of Mac shellshocked and PTSD ridden, especially when Murdoc is the one to cause that PTSD to manifest.

This metaphor got away from me.

Regardless, the bottom line is that Murdoc is very strange in a very directed way and that directed wat is towards Mac who kindly wishes to be buried beneath ground with a bomb set off if Murdoc even so much as thinks about him. Or, that’s what Mac deludes himself.

Because Mac - also very sincerely and with so much love for my fucked up babygirl, my homeboy, my meow meow - is an adrenaline junky that thrives off danger and saving people by the very skin of his teeth, and doesn’t realize that this is a death wish since his mother died and his father left, and thus wants recognition anyway he can get it. Of course, Mac finds tangling with Murdoc very much a death wish, in which loading a shotgun with the barrel pointing directly into your face is a death wish, or getting into a Lamborghini because you might as well die in style right, but Murdoc lets you know before you get in that he’s cut the brake lines and he’s shoved duct tape over your mouth because your screams are for him only.

And you want that, sincerely, derangedly, because who else could love you if not the man that caused your nightmares and made you afraid of the dark and who drags you as close to the edge of dying by his own hands only to drag you back because he demands that not even death can claim you, Mac is Murdoc’s and Mac shall die when Murdoc says Mac will.

Of course, it could also be because Murdoc has shown that regardless of anything that has happened, that Murdoc wants Mac and perhaps the intrigue of that devotion in the face of everyone leaving him is….toxic and intoxicating, but who can tell.

Liminal Spaces in Witchcraft

First of all, what is a liminal space? A liminal space refers to a place or time that is in a period of transition between two phases. These are usually places where reality feels altered because you are neither moving forward or backward, like a rest stop. The word liminal originates from the Latin word limens, meaning threshold. These places often give off a sense that time stands still and that you are experiencing some sort of reality shift. 

        In magic and witchcraft these spaces are considered to be the boundary between our world and the other, it is known as “the in-between”. These places are considered areas of great magic because it is believed this is where the veil is thin. These places are great for divination, spirit work, meditation and astral travel; they are ideal for hedge witchcraft.

Times & Spaces of Liminality:

hallway/corridor/stairwells/landings/doorways

dawn, dusk, afternoon, midnight

      Samhain/Halloween is considered the best time to communicate with spirits and faeries because of its liminality, it is a time of transition between autumn and winter. Irish folklore tells that this is the day faeries and ghosts come out to play because of the veil thinning. The equinoxes and sabbats like Beltane and Imbolc are also days of liminality because the time of day and night are equal (equinoxes) or it is a transition between seasons.  

       Mental states of liminality are also times of spirit communication. While being in a meditative state we are in a state of transition between our concious and sub-concious minds, this is where we sometimes experience astral projection or messages from spirits. People often experience spirit while falling asleep because this is another state of liminality. 

     In my craft I often practice in liminality in order to connect with the faerie realms.

I didn’t want to have to make this post and I hate that I now feel that I have to. As a server owner and someone who’s been trying to make her own content, this has been an incredibly upsetting ordeal. This will be long and I’m sorry. I want to talk about The Hollow.  The Hollow is a witchcraft server, less than a month old. I joined it yesterday. The owners of the server are a former staff member of mine and her boyfriend, who on my staff in a minor position until yesterday. She goes by Kaleigh or K.K and her discord handle is Celtic Daughter. Now let me go further back.  Kaleigh joined my server in February. For those of you unfamiliar with my server, I run an 18+ witchcraft server. Kaleigh claimed to be 18. We didn’t think much of this at first. She was in my server for 6 weeks before she actually turned 18. I was starting a server birthday calendar and asked her about her birthday. She admitted to joining early, saying she had joined a week before, which is untrue.

Please note: she also claims to have waited til her birthday to apply for staff. She joined staff 3 days before her birthday. 

This combined with another incident led to my staff voting unanimously to ban her. What was the other incident? Plagiarism. Kaleigh and I were friends, so she told me that she was starting a witch instagram. She has now deleted her stolen posts, but the account was cropped tumblr posts and other images that did not belong to her. One of my staff members addressed this with her. 

The VERY next day, she had a new post. I don’t still have the image, she did delete the post, but it’s important to mention because it relates to what happened today. 

She first claimed to have written it, which is when I sent the link it was copied and pasted from. Then she claimed to have just forgotten where she got it from. 

She deleted the post. Today, in her new server, she did one of her “Talks with the High Priestess” posting it yet again. 

And when asked about it, claimed that she wrote it. 

Now lets talk about The Hollow itself. I created my server almost a year ago, opening it May 27th. I wrote my rules, made role names for certain things no one else was using, and had members choose witch levels upon entering. Here are some comparison photos from when I entered her server. I only had access to 3 channels and found so much. 

So many little details that made my server mine, just stolen. It’s incredibly upsetting and hurtful.

So why am I writing this? I didn’t want to. She was spoken to several times. I hoped that she would stop stealing content. Apparently that isn’t going to happen. I think the community should be made aware that this girl is blatantly stealing content without shame. Right now it’s me and that Beltane blog post, and I do still have photos of the other posts she stole but this post is long enough as it is. I don’t want anyone else to get hurt by her or stolen from.

Why Ghosts aren’t Spirits

Ghosts are spirits is something I’ve heard a lot of, and to be fair, no one on here will probably take the time to read this, but I’d like to make the distinction between a stain, a spirit, and a soul. The soul, no one really knows about. The soul might get reincarnated, maybe it goes to heaven. When you die, your soul goes somewhere. Where? That’s up to you to decide for yourself. Your spirit is that part of you that helps your descendants, that can stay with your friends. Your spirit is a personification of you, a you that rejoins the flow, and can leave the flow to provide some guidance, if your will is strong enough.   With all that in mind, what’s a ghost. A ghost is your stain, it’s the stink of death, the ending of a cycle, it’s an imprint of what you meant to the world, unable to go anywhere because it’s not really a person, it’s just a reflection. This is what people think of as ghosts. They may haunt where you were buried, or where you died. They may haunt your house, wandering around without any real sentience. Just a reflection of what once was.

Weird Energy Vibes

So I didn’t notice the weird vibes people’ve been talking about because I’m in Canberra and where I am tends to just feel really old and quiet? But since lockdown the energy shifted big time and now it feels really wrong? And my friend in bloody Missouri got a giant patch of weird energy near them that to them sounded like rocks being thrown at a window and to me was completely silent and a giant patch of darkness that gave of vibes of Not Meant To Be There even though there wasn’t any sentience or malice or even any entities beyond the usual around? Fucking weird my dudes.

I have a habit of waking up at 1-2am with the exact answer to something I’ve been trying to work out the whole day or a dream I’ll later find out is a premonition so honestly yeah, I believe in the witching hour.

Do you guys actually believe the witching hour is a thing? I know it’s just generally accepted, but do you find your power and the supernatural stronger between 12-3 a.m?

Southern Hemisphere & Yule

The time of year is upon us.

Every witch will be on discord or tumblr seeing people gearing up for that yuletide spirit, and with that comes a bunch of us Southern Witches (and by southern I mean the kind with corks hanging off their hats) looking around in confusion and wondering, quite frankly, what the hell we’re meant to do with this bushfire filled horrible lovely hot summer?

Well, you could, of course abandon the yuletide spirit and switch it up for the Sabbat of Litha. Bonfires, honey, oak... the usual really.

My personal favourite option is to play it what I call Chaos Style. There are always similarities in Celtic celebrations, common threads are very very easy to find. The first one is: BONFIRES. Celtic paganism is full to brim with bonfires. Harvest time? Bonfire. Winter solstice? Bonfire. Party for any reason? Bonfire. So you can always start with a little bit of fire.

Total Fire Bans will usually be in place though, so maybe substitute a campfire scented candle for a real fire.

Next up? Mistletoe. Both Litha and Yule have strong associations with mistletoe, so if you’re wanting to decorate a little traditionally then mistletoe works no matter what.

Now you’ve got the basics, let’s get the rest. Basically, do whatever makes you happy at Yule, because even though you’re a witch, or a pagan. Christmas is Christmas and Christmas is something I’m pretty sure we can all get behind. Put that LEGO Christmas Village up as an altar, make some gingerbread. Elderflower champagne is traditional Litha drink? Great, elderflower cordial is in every Christmas themed home magazine in Australia, usually.

Make your own rituals and live your best life. Happy Yule, happy Litha, joyous Hanukkah, and Merry gosh diddly darn Christmas.

Is It None of Your Concern

Sometimes in life you gotta lean back and look at the reasons bad things happen.

It’s almost automatic by now, this is my fault, I hit this point because of my actions. And you know what, to a point it’s right, but once it hits that point.

Sometimes, rejection is just caused by you not having the same mindset as the people you’re dealing with, and I know it can hurt a lot when people you know well reject you but, sometimes it just wasn’t meant to be.

You just have to wonder if it’s time to move on, time to fly away and take whoever does really feel like you’re someone that wants to be with you, or is important to you away.

Because sometimes, sometimes you just need to lie back, and decide if it’s none of their concern what you do now. If they’re still on your path or if they’re walking a different way.
