In 3x16 Virtual Systems, tying shoes is included in things Abed doesn’t understand, but he has laced shoes, so here are some headcanons:
His dad gave up trying to teach him and tied his shoes for him until he left for Greendale
At first, he just tried to put on his shoes without untying and retying them, but they eventually came undone, so he just tucked the laces into the shoe which was really inconvenient because his shoes would fall off or a lace would come out and he’d trip
He actually first met Troy by literally tripping into his arms
Later, after Abed admits he doesn’t know how to tie his shoes, Troy offers to do it for him because he gets confused by things and needs help too
Usually it’s a casual thing and neither of them really notice what they’re doing, but sometimes they’ll be dramatic and recreate Cinderella
After Troy leaves, Annie helps him instead, but it feels a bit like she’s babying him and it never felt like that with Troy
When he goes to LA, he just buys Velcro shoes and they become his signature look

More Posts from Dimesandnickels
If I had a nickel for every time a character played by Danny Pudi had someone they care about leave to go sail around the world, I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.
I loved the ethics committee episode because it’s our first look at how Brad’s attitude toward David is different from his attitude toward everyone else. When David finally snaps at Brad in the episode, it was obvious that that was the only thing Brad wanted out of it. In the previous episodes, when Brad messed with people, it was because he wanted something specific out of it like a loot crate or to make a point, but when he was messing with David, he was just doing it for the fun of it. It felt like an ‘annoying your crush because they’re cute when they’re mad situation’.
I think it also showed how David sees Brad differently from his other coworkers as well because it’s the first time in the show that he stood up for himself and, unlike when he does it the other times, he doesn’t immediately freak out or make a big deal out of it, which makes me think he’s a little more likely to stand up to Brad and not be phased by him being mad like he is with Poppy and Ian.
But most importantly, Brad was definitely into it when David yelled at him and you cannot change my mind.
I had a mental breakdown and decided to drop out of school, so I decided to watch Community for comfort. I just started playing it from wherever I had left off and it was the fucking episode after they got kicked out of school. How dare my comfort show reflect my reality.
Mythic Quest Crew Playing Monopoly
Brad: keeps talking about how he’s going to destroy everyone but ends up only landing on chance, community chest, and income tax. Refuses to give people change so they have to exchange with the bank to get the right amount of ones
David: makes deals that put him at a disadvantage just to keep the peace. Still lasts longer than Brad.
Poppy: absolutely refuses to trade with Ian even if it’s a perfectly fair trade. Always forgets to buy houses when she gets more money
Ian: pretends he doesn’t care but ends up throwing the dice across the room when he loses. Makes people wait at least five rounds before he says he’ll accept their trade. Refuses to trade with Poppy
Rachel: keeps trying to tell everyone about the anti-capitalist origin of the game
Dana: tries to lose so she can leave. Ends up getting second place after being forced to play for hours
CW: keeps forgetting which piece is his. Insists on coming up with a story to explain why he’s in jail
Jo: the winner
Sue: is the banker because there are only 8 player pieces
Carol: pretends she doesn’t know it’s happening because then it’s not her problem
Reid, on his 12th cup of coffee and 0 hours of sleep: “I think I can feel death coming for me.”
Emily, not even looking up from her paperwork: “Tell him I say hi.”
