should preface this by saying the hashira are the elite in a very small but very dense region nearby kanto & johto. having an elite 12 makes it ridiculously hard to defeat, which is why they've never had a champion. not to mention the gym leaders (tsuguko) being trained specifically by the elite, making them... also relatively difficult, but you know the whole "have different teams depending on the level of the challenger thing", they still do that

SO thats a BIG fuckin challenge

(also the demons are the evil team that i can't figure out a name for but their whole schtick is to send THEIR elite to defeat the hashira in battle or actually physically harm them so that one of them can become champion & gain political influence)

k.yojuro: fire types / very balanced battler, doesn't often rely on gimmicks & has very straightforward battles. you fight him near the end. his arena causes drought.

m.uichiro: ice types / speed oriented, doesn't have a tank but can definitely get you out of commission before you can even touch one of their mon. arena causes hail.

g.iyuu: water types / mostly physical attackers, very gimmicky & full of unexpected strategies, good luck predicting anything. one of the first you fight. arena causes rain.

lillie pro-tip: being called “pretty” or “beautiful” triggers her, if u want her to feel good abt her appearance, compliment her outfit or hairstyle. there are other loopholes but her hair & outfits are what she feels helps separate her from lusamine the most, since until running away she could never wear what she wanted.
