honestly, why is the only language we have for sexual trauma that of rape and assault? there are so many kinds of sexual trauma that are done a genuine disservice by trying to grapple with them using the language of rape.
there's "i consented to this for self-destructive reasons," there's "i didn't know what i was consenting to because i didn't have enough experience to tell that i would be upset by this thing," there's "i initiated something that i now regret," there's dozens, even hundreds, of sexual situations that are traumatic and that need community support and care and some real trauma work to heal from, that just aren't accurately described by the language we have to discuss rape.
and like, trying to shoehorn them in under the umbrella of rape and assault often does a disservice to the victims trying to heal--trying to cast a sexual partner as a malicious perpetrator retroactively is often really psychologically damaging to someone who is experiencing a complex trauma around an experience they consented to, especially when the trauma victim themselves initiated the experience.
Dying on the hill that you can lower the rates of csa by a significant amount by just giving minors comprehensive sex ed and treating them with a basic level of respect the same way you would any other person
I’m basing this on what I’ve learned from listening to csa survivors. Making it harder for predators to prey on them means they get preyed on less.
I don’t care if the useless bandaid solutions that many have proposed are less uncomfortable for people. I care about what actually works.

I’m meant to be in therapy 2x a week for CPTSD but I have a toxic job lol. So I pay and get a therapy session once every few months as it’s literally all I can afford. Anyways reporting CSA/SA people seem to think it all happens immediately and with nothing but someone’s word and blah blah blah. Like bish im on year 3 of this process and they haven’t even finished collecting my statement let alone doing all the background investigations before any perpetrator is contacted and you get updated like once every few months max. If an accused is contacted about a sa crime that means there has been likely years of investigation and enough proof that they believe it’ll go to court otherwise they just drop the cases like they do with the majority of sa reports even when the detectives/lawyers/police/crim justice system know it happened. Also detectives and all I found out the updated agreed upon researched stats on csa! 1 in 3 girls before age 15 and 1 in 5 boys before age 15. Australia is so great! Children totally have human rights! You’re totally safe!

Carina Nebula
This landscape of “mountains” and “valleys” speckled with glittering stars, called the Cosmic Cliffs, is the edge of the star-birthing Carina Nebula. Usually, the early phases of star formation are difficult to capture, but Webb can peer through cosmic dust—thanks to its extreme sensitivity, spatial resolution, and imaging capability. Protostellar jets clearly shoot out from some of these young stars in this new image.
Southern Ring Nebula
The Southern Ring Nebula is a planetary nebula: it’s an expanding cloud of gas and dust surrounding a dying star. In this new image, the nebula’s second, dimmer star is brought into full view, as well as the gas and dust it’s throwing out around it. (The brighter star is in its own stage of stellar evolution and will probably eject its own planetary nebula in the future.) These kinds of details will help us better understand how stars evolve and transform their environments. Finally, you might notice points of light in the background. Those aren’t stars—they’re distant galaxies.
Stephan’s Quintet
Stephan’s Quintet, a visual grouping of five galaxies near each other, was discovered in 1877 and is best known for being prominently featured in the holiday classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” This new image brings the galaxy group from the silver screen to your screen in an enormous mosaic that is Webb’s largest image to date. The mosaic covers about one-fifth of the Moon’s diameter; it contains over 150 million pixels and is constructed from almost 1,000 separate image files. Never-before-seen details are on display: sparkling clusters of millions of young stars, fresh star births, sweeping tails of gas, dust and stars, and huge shock waves paint a dramatic picture of galactic interactions.
WASP-96 b
WASP-96 b is a giant, mostly gas planet outside our solar system, discovered in 2014. Webb’s Near-Infrared Imager and Slitless Spectrograph (NIRISS) measured light from the WASP-96 system as the planet moved across the star. The light curve confirmed previous observations, but the transmission spectrum revealed new properties of the planet: an unambiguous signature of water, indications of haze, and evidence of clouds in the atmosphere. This discovery marks a giant leap forward in the quest to find potentially habitable planets beyond Earth.
Webb's First Deep Field
This image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723, known as Webb’s First Deep Field, looks 4.6 billion years into the past. Looking at infrared wavelengths beyond Hubble’s deepest fields, Webb’s sharp near-infrared view reveals thousands of galaxies—including the faintest objects ever observed in the infrared—in the most detailed view of the early universe to date. We can now see tiny, faint structures we’ve never seen before, like star clusters and diffuse features and soon, we’ll begin to learn more about the galaxies’ masses, ages, histories, and compositions.
These images and data are just the beginning of what the observatory will find. It will study every phase in the history of our Universe, ranging from the first luminous glows after the Big Bang, to the formation of solar systems capable of supporting life on planets like Earth, to the evolution of our own Solar System.

avoid commenting on other alters behaviour if it's not truly harmful to the system.
ive been reading about trauma responses and SA holders in systems, and i have a few things to say;
i'd pretend to be the body's age to get myself into sexual situations because that was what i knew. that is what I expected from people. especially men. sex was predictable (even if it was hellishly painful). assaxlt was predictable. take what you want, leave me to clean up. it was a rhythm i was used to
it felt Safe in a way. and anyone who hasn't experienced long term sa will not understand that. i knew what they'd do and i could doll up accordingly. once the sa abuse finished i still expected that people would act that way, and when they didn't, id seek out the patterns of abuse. it was more controllable than my own emorions.
hypersexualising myself came from not having any other option during the abuse but to sit down and take it, and not knowing of any alternatives when it ended.
sex and sexual situations were safe.
whenever i'd make sex jokes.. more accurately rxpe jokes. i was trying to cope with having my most basic human rights stripped. i was doing my best to handle sexual assaults on my own. i wasn't trying to, or aware of the impact it had on the others.
it was trauma.
it was always trauma.
i was too afraid to tell anyone any of why i acted that way (especially not how id been moulded into the prefect obedient slxt by my previous abusers) due to how the system and outer world spoke of me.
so please
if your littles/middles/tweens/teens, sometimes adults too, are acting out, especially sexualising themselves, here's a high chance they'd dealing with something no one else knows about.
check in with your system.

I found this quote in a book today (the book is called "Cult Trip" by Anke Richter if you're interested - I do recommend it, but look up the trigger warnings; it contains graphic descriptions of sexual assault). I think it's important for people to hear, especially SA survivors, like we are. <3
