trying (emphasis on trying) to match his energy. gaara will never be very loud or expressive, but if lee is excited enough to yell && cheer about something then gaara will cheer with him, just... much quieter.

coming out of his shell. he tries something new every time he's with lee, whether that means trying a new food or activity, or maybe letting lee be physically affectionate for a longer time than the last. he always pushes himself a little more for lee, && it always pays off.

against all odds, giving his own attempt at physical affection. this is more rare than the others, but lee makes him comfortable enough to allow himself such little joys.

just saying it. he doesn't need to hide anything from lee, (not like he can anyway), his love is pretty obvious to anyone who knows gaara well enough. there's no use in NOT saying it, && it also feels so nice when he does.

smiling. it's rare for gaara to give a real, true smile beyond a pleased upturn. lee has managed to wriggle several genuine grins out of gaara, && he might be the only one who's seen them so far.

    it  took  a  ridiculously  ,  obnoxiously  long  time  to  get  naruto  to  go  to  bed  tonight  .  obito  had  to  spar  with  the  little  goblin  until  dark  to  tire  him  out  enough  so  he  wouldn’t  complain  about  being  sent  to  bed  .  how  does  one  kid  have  so  much  energy  ??  regardless  ,  obito  was  much  less  than  pleased  to  feel  something  pulling  his  form  over  .      [  worst  case  scenario  ,  it’s  naruto  claiming  to  be  unable  to  sleep  ]  ,  but  as  his  eye  cracks  open  ,  he  sees  rin  climbing  into  bed  with  him  .  cheeks  light  up  in  an  instant  &&  he  can’t  help  but  wonder  if  she’s  sleepwalking  ——    but  something  feels  wrong  in  the  air  ,  so  he  doesn’t  make  a  peep  when  she  shuffles  close  enough  to  just  barely  meet  his  face  .  no  matter  how  fast  your  heart  is  beating  ,  don’t  make  a  big  deal  out  of  it  .  …  damn  it  ,  there’s  a  heaviness  in  his  chest  he  can’t  bring  himself  to  dislike  .  as  she  settles  in  her  position  ,  obito  is  frozen  for  a  moment  .  er  ,  more  than  a  moment  .  his  anxiety  is  through  the  roof  ,  but  slowly  …  his  arms  wrap  around  the  brunette  &&  hold  her  close  as  she  hides  her  face  in  his  chest  .  another  few  moments  ,  &&  his  lips  meet  the  top  of  her  head  .

"your face comes off-?"

     he  knew  this  was  coming  .  alex  is  the  dumbest  guy  he  knows  .  sal  pauses  ,  prosthetic  lifted  just  enough  to  fit  his  forkful  of  pasta  through  the  gap  ,  eye  turns  to  look  directly  into  alex’s  .  should  he  fuck  with  him  ,  or  be  honest  ?  judging  by  how  little  alex  knows  about  the  world  ,  it  would  probably  only  do  bad  to  fuck  with  him    [  sadly  ]  ,    so  he  sets  his  fork  back  down  &&  lets  the  prosthetic  conseal  his  mouth  again  .
