prolonged eye contact. usually he saves eye contact in general for battle or interrogation, but in casual settings it's a show of intimacy. staring into rin's eyes is his way of screaming out his feelings.
alternatively, closing his eyes around her. it's much more subtle, but it's trust. he is trusting her by making himself vulnerable. he often will close his eyes during more upsetting conversations, or if they're just sitting in silence.
leaning on her. for any reason, really. again, vulnerability.
asking if she's eaten. it's small, but it's showing that he's thinking of her. if she hasn't eaten, he'll share his food with her regardless of how much he has on him. if she has... he'll still offer some.
adjusting her clothing for her if she is going somewhere. crooked vest, hair out of place, shirt tag showing, droopy sleeve, it doesn't really matter. he finds just doing these small things is easier than just telling her something's out of place. plus, it's a physical contact that doesn't terrify him.

giving sasuke space. he knows how overwhelming it is to be unfamiliar with touch && suddenly experiencing so much of it can overload you. he'll only really touch sasuke if it is an emergency or he has explicit permission.
verbal encouragement. he will let sasuke talk about what they like && listen without complaint, even if there aren't many things sasuke likes && gaara's heard all of it before. if not things they like, then their feelings.
check-ins. how are you feeling? have you slept? has anything fun happened recently?
when given permission, playing with their hair. he loves running his hands through their hair if they're in close proximity. it's not an overwhelming affection for either of them, && he knows sasuke enjoys it.
silence. sasuke just needs quiet sometimes, but quiet doesn't always mean alone. gaara will lock up his office with only the two of them in it, letting sasuke sit with him while he does paperwork in complete silence. he doesn't mind at all.

trying (emphasis on trying) to match his energy. gaara will never be very loud or expressive, but if lee is excited enough to yell && cheer about something then gaara will cheer with him, just... much quieter.
coming out of his shell. he tries something new every time he's with lee, whether that means trying a new food or activity, or maybe letting lee be physically affectionate for a longer time than the last. he always pushes himself a little more for lee, && it always pays off.
against all odds, giving his own attempt at physical affection. this is more rare than the others, but lee makes him comfortable enough to allow himself such little joys.
just saying it. he doesn't need to hide anything from lee, (not like he can anyway), his love is pretty obvious to anyone who knows gaara well enough. there's no use in NOT saying it, && it also feels so nice when he does.
smiling. it's rare for gaara to give a real, true smile beyond a pleased upturn. lee has managed to wriggle several genuine grins out of gaara, && he might be the only one who's seen them so far.

mewtwo has beans! they are the same shade of purple as its tail & are very soft due to mewtwo never using its paws for anything including walking

gaara and his siblings.
gaara loves them, simple as that. they were always there for him, & never gave up on him even at his worst.
he wonders if they still fear him, subconsciously. he wonders if they would beg for their lives like they used to if he were to show aggression to them. not that he would, but the curiosity scratches at the back of his mind, almost desperately. wouldn't it be so refreshing to feel that rush again?

no, he loves them. they love him. they're a family. nothing will bring them apart.
Okay but please talk to me about Mitsuki and Konohamaru. What were Mitsuki's first impressions of him? Has it changed over time? How?
mitsuki had no opinions on konohamaru in the beginning. he was worried, though, what would happen if konohamaru learned of who his parent is.
after a while, they grew closer, as any team would. but konohamaru became somewhat of a safe space. he never worries about saying the wrong thing to him, & konohamaru always supported him.
then when mitsuki left to infiltrate the hidden stone, things were... different. labeled a criminal, he was sure all of his secrets would get out & slip past naruto's lips as soon as he was confronted. he wondered if he would be able to return to konoha at all, let alone as a shinobi.
then at the very end of it, konohamaru HUGGED him. a gentle, yet firm, hug. mitsuki wasn't scolded, nor punished. konohamaru, despite everything, was so happy to have him back. it was... unnerving, a bit.
konohamaru is his family. a safe person. & mitsuki loves him as much as his own brother.
gaara's confidence re being a parent
gaara isn't worried about parenting much. he knew what he was getting into when taking a child into his home, & he was ready for it. he knows he will never be like rasa, & he knows that he's trying his best. he knows how & who to ask for help when he needs it, & he knows that every child is different.
he finds joy in nurturing the future, & even more joy when the child who was once rampaging in the streets comes home & greets him, as his father. as family. gaara had no idea how much it meant to be a parent, let alone the parent of a child who so desperately needed it. & he's so, so happy he's been given this chance.
in short, he is not super mega confident in his inherent abilities as a father, but is wholly confident in his willingness to learn, & confident that no matter what, he loves shinki with every bit of his being.
& that's what's important.

from stories, & how he's described... he's indifferent. there's respect from a power standpoint, & not much else. jiraiya seems too much for him to handle, & kinda... scummy.
Today me and 11 other high schoolers had the opportunity to work with Erin Holliday in creating the pieces of her kinetic mobile that will hang in the Olathe Community Center. We took two pieces of cut acrylic and put india ink, tissue paper, and acrylic glue between them and squished them together. The clips around the pieces are to keep them together and will be removed in a few days. have a really funny headcanon that I have to share concerning arlecchino's ceremony.
my man scaramouche did NOT want to be here. he was probably forced to show up in uniform, minus the hat for respect. (maybe also a little bit of curiosity, wanting to see who the new knave was.) my guess is pierro threatened him, and scaramouche showed up, dressed as disrespectfully as he could get away with. mans was READY to vanish the second he could. he has things to do and people to monologue to, he doesn't have time to entertain his cohorts.
