Saying You Don't See Color Robs Groups Of Their Identity, Experience, Plight, Beauty, And Strength. Saying

Saying you don't see color robs groups of their identity, experience, plight, beauty, and strength. Saying you're color blind means you can't address racism in all its tentacled infrastructure — because you can't address what you aren't willing to see.

Hey guys chicago essentially trapped protestors downtown by cutting off all public transit in the loop / downtown area and raising the bridges that allow cars and walk ways out of the loop (downtown is kinda like an island due to the Chicago River), then threatening people with arrest if they’re not gone by curfew (which was announced 30 minutes before it began - and when I left earlier it took 45 minutes to get out of downtown by foot due to the mayors closures.) it’s quite literally impossible. one bridge is open AFAIK but only to the north side. Chicago Freedom School is funding ubers to help ppl get home and sheltering those who can’t

Please donate here to Chicago freedom school to support protestors in Chicago trapped

EDIT: This post was made on 5/30, though similar shutdowns and attempts to trap protestors have continued. The Freedom School is still, as it is all year round, a good place to donate though the protests are more spread out than they were saturday night.

If you are in Chicago and need somewhere to go , another Safe Haven is the First Unitarian Church in Chicago in Hyde Park. More Information
