The solitude of the forest sometimes wasn’t enough for a certain goddess.

On days when the humans of the nearby village seemed uninterested in leaving their borders, she’d at times decide that leaving the safety of the shaded canopies was a risk she was willing to take to have a glimpse of the sea up close. That was something her forests could never satisfy—though her domain was of root and soil, there was something about the endless stretch of water that drew her in like a moth to flame.

And alone, there was no one to deter her from coming to greet it as the sun set, and its rays shining on the water’s surface like it would on multifaceted gems. Coupled with the sea breeze, it was wonderful. Healing. The crash of the waves on the water spoke to her heart like the sweet whispers of a lover.

Tonight she figured it wouldn’t hurt to venture out into the rocky waters for a closer look at the setting sun. This wasn’t the first she’d come out as far as she did—by now she had a path of stones memorized, and a favorite rock to sit on as she watched the sunset. She’d come to accept that the billowing fabric of her garb would have to end up soaked in seawater, and that was fine.

So long as she didn’t fall into the water, she was fine.

Sitting on her rock, her legs half in the water, she turned her eyes to the sky. The clouds were gorgeous, painted in shades of purple, red, orange, gold; the first few stars were beginning to peek through the darkest parts of the sky.

It was mesmerizing. To the point where—

“Huh!?”

Heading a voice come out of nowhere made Dolasach startle badly enough that she nearly fell into the water.

“It’s good that you acknowledge your boldness,” she said in an admonishing tone, too upset to care about his question. “Didn’t anyone teach you to not sneak up on someone like that, without warning? Where did you even come from?”

She composed herself as best she could as she spoke, though she was looking at this mysterious stranger like he’d grown a tail—

“Wait. You… Who are you? How and why are you here?”

He is used to it; however, that didn't mean he accepted it.

Rafayel sighed as he let his head rest against his palm, the same thing being drilled into his mind by the endless sea of words spewing the history of Lemuria and the world on the surface repeated like a broken record from the elders. He seemed to be falling asleep and was immediately scolded for not paying attention.

Evidently, something came up that had the elders leave the vicinity for the time being and this served as an opportunity for Rafayel to escape. He had attempted in doing so a few times, but he was sure that this time he would be able to be successful.

A blue fish swam around him and held his hand out, allowing the fish to swim over his palm.

"Shall we head to the surface? It's a little boring right now and I'm tired of hearing the elders saying the same thing over and over again."

The fish continued swimming over his palm before seemingly directing him toward an opening to which he was able to squeeze through. It was then he realized that he was out of the city walls of Whalefall City and was able to swim to the surface.

He thanked the fish before it disappeared back through the city walls and Rafayel didn't have to think twice as he turned away from Whalefall City to swim up to the surface; however, before he allowed himself to fully come out, he swam slowly as the damn words from the elders rang in his head.

"The world on the surface is dangerous, even if those people worship our Sea God, there is a chance that someone will try to capture him."

"As the previous Lemurians have..."

"Rafayel, you must never venture out to the surface world. Your people are here, that is all that should concern you."

And the annoying part of all. "The Sea God will one day meet the Goddess of the Forest, and when that day comes, should he fall in love with her, it will be the beginning of the downfall of Lemuria."

Rafayel always thought it to be those stories to be something a parent would tell to their child to make them listen. And besides, Rafayel had always been, not only a rebellious soul, but one of sheer curiosity.

Once he peeked out from the water, he spotted a woman by the shore. And he had seen a few other humans before, but something about her was different and he couldn't help but to swim towards the shore, closer to her. Who could she be? For some reason... he needed to know and while he doesn't know why he needs to, he simply just has to try; in a way, it felt as though there were residual feelings, feelings that weren't from him and that in itself baffled him.

So without thinking, his mouth opened to speak.

"Who might you be? You don't seem... human to me, although you do appear to be." He tilted his head briefly before letting out a laugh. "Ah, apologies. This is bold of me, I will admit."

[makes a show of being impressed by his muscles before rolling her eyes at him affectionately] Well... I do have a few clothes I'd like stretched out a little, so maybe sharing isn't totally hopeless.

You do spoil me to the point where I can't help but feel a little bad, though. Is there anything of mine you want in return? My own perfumes, jewelry... [smiles a little more playfully and tilts her head as she traces a line down his chest]

Hugs? Kisses?

Mo chuisle, do you remember the jacket you wore yesterday? Would you mind if I borrow it for today?

Or really, any of your jackets will do.

So long as they still smell like you.

You mean... This one? { he plucks the jacket from the chair he draped it on and holds it up for her to see before walking over to her; a smile on his face as he drapes it over her shoulders and leans in to place a kiss onto her forehead. }

My closet is your closet, you know?

{ there's a playful smile on his lips, chuckling quietly. } Hm? I'm not sure if I heard that correctly... Something about them smelling like me? But, anyways, you can steal anything from my closet because I actually find it rather cute when you steal them.

A win-win situation, don't you think?
