[ID: A total of eight tweets from Taliesin Jaffe @.executivegoth which together read: “2020 is almost over and I feel I have something to get off my chest: I didn't get better. I didn't get healthier in mind or body. I didn't create, I didn't grow, and I didn't accomplish. It's fair to say I'm less together than I was this time last year by almost every metric. But I DID survive. and you know what? I'm happy to come to terms with that. Survival is absolutely enough. I'm learning to be more than good with that and I feel like you should be too. Seriously, well fucking done. I've many friends who've made huge strides. Solitude has given them time to accomplish goals of self improvement, creative output, or career advancement. Sometimes all three. THANK THE GODS. We're going to be relying on healthy people in the months ahead. Some friends have dealt with so much. Loss of health, loss of family. Some have slipped back into bad habits, or lost employment. And these experiences just WRECK you. I worry for friends in film, games, STEM, public service. Hell, friends who lost jobs at Disneyland. it's awful. Almost universally, these amazing people beat themselves up for lamenting their own pain when so many others are doing so much worse. It so hard for us to remember that neither success nor failure are a contest. Most people can't even agree on how to measure these concepts. As for next year; I've always hated the metaphor of the light at the end of the tunnel. Most change I've experienced in my life didn't happen in a day, and when it did it was usually less life altering then the change that took months. The road ahead is long. We're gonna need marathon runners, not sprinters. Accept help when offered. Offer help when (and only when) you have the bandwidth. We need you healthy. I've seen in my own life how much greater a force for good I can be when I have my shit kinda together. The real change I've observed in my life is less like a tunnel and more like a car heater. You turn it on and wait patiently to slowly feel your fingers. With that said, Happy New Year everyone, just two more months of winter. Let's get this '88 Corolla engine of a year idling.” /end ID]

What are your thoughts on how Vanya and five are each other’s favorite but when he comes back she isn’t interested in talking to him or seeing him. Especially since she believes he is still 13. I know she has issues with her family ignoring her and she clings onto Leonard, but five never ignored her or was mean to her. She has no reason to not see him. it’s not her fault she started the apocalypse but she still doesn’t apologize to him for creating the hell he had to live in, in s2
Salty. I am INCREDIBLY salty.
I mean, i get where Vanya is coming from, with the isolation and getting shat on from her family, but s i s.
She straight up leaves right after the funeral, possibly without even saying goodbye, as if her best friend, who she was leaving the lights on for, didn’t just return after almost 2 decades of being missing. He tells her that she’s the only one he can trust. And Vanya is twice like “u sure it was real tho?” As if she didn’t see him fall down the blue portal with glimpses of boomer looking five, visibly shaken, in clothes that was like 5 sizes bigger than him. I mean, okay, you’re concerned for you brother’s mental health, that’s good, but how about you hold it till the end of the world is prevented. Even if it wasn’t true, it’s like a week. Don’t tell him that he’s pulling it out of his ass on his 4th hour of being back and then act shook when he’s like “well this was a mistake, thanks for the support, sis, just what i needed, see ya :| “
Literally the only time Five ignores her is in the flashback with the photo. He even glances at her, then is looking pretty guilty when Vanya is yelling at veggie.
When Five finds her in s2, there’s no fear, no hesitation, no anxiety. He’s talking to her as if she wasn’t the one who caused the apocalypse he had to live in for a lifetime. Hell, he even protects her from that fact.
And the stand-off; girl is in no position to try and make demands, trying to blame the one who in s2 is literally a kid to her. “You’re the reason we’re stuck here in the first place.” fills me with r a g e. Just. No. Sit down.
Ok. I get she doesn’t apologize before she gets her memories back. That’s understandable, she didn’t know. But after the FBI? ?? ? girl?????? What’s holding you back??????
i just remembered one of the best moments of my childhood so imma share with the class
picture this: 2004. i was a wee 8-year-old spending some time with my grandma in the small countryside city where my mom is from.
now i don’t want you to picture this as a quaint little town full of trees or what not. my family has always been poor, and even in the context of this already poor little town. the city is fucking hideous. i’m talking exposed brick self-made houses. i’m talking bathrooms with slightly caved in floors threatening to let you fall in the septic tank while you’re showering. i’m talking a thin coating of red earth on pretty much everything. i’m talking about a sun that burns everything it touches.
i, however, was none the wiser. my grandma was very stern, but had a soft spot for me, and was more than eager to let me play in the street, something i would never EVER be able to do back at home. I’d play in the street from morning to sundown, grandma would literally throw me in the shower, i’d collapse almost immediately on the bed and rinse and repeat.
this town specifically is in a very dry area of my state. it honest to god borders a desert. so it’s very hot and doesn’t rain much, but when it does, the town has absolutely NO FUCKING CLUE how to deal with the rain.
on that specific day, it had been raining quite a lot. i was p bummed i couldn’t go out to play so my grandma, knowing the granddaughter she had, had me help around the house to keep me busy. I was sorting different scraps of fabric grandma was sewing into a quilt when we heard a loud BOOM-
and my grandma’s house at the time was at the foot of a hill. on top of this hill was a cemetery built in the 1940′s, in between the two there was (still is) a slum where most of my grandma’s friends lived. Grandma looked up from her sewing machine, raised an eyebrow, and went back to her sewing. Gunfight, what about it? We were used to it at the time.
then there was another BOOM-
and then grandma was like aight this is weird. is way louder than a gun. what the fuck.
so she opened the front door just in time for one of her friends to BARGE into the home. I’m saying the SWAT team had NOTHING on this woman. this seventy year-old lil’ old lady BURST into the house and i was like Tia Eurita what in the actual fuck-
and this woman, honest to god, simply BELLOWS
“DONA DELFINA. THE DEAD ARE COMING DOWN THE HILL. THEY HAVE SONIA IN HER HOUSE”
the cemetery wall had caved in because of the rain and all of the corpses came sliding down the hill, trapping people in their houses. Grandma took one look at her friend, picked up her rosary beads, and sat down to pray (but she couldn’t because she was laughing too hard)
anyways i thought this had been a product of my imagination until the other day i needed to look up court decisions about something unrelated and i came across this decision where the court condemned the city to pay 40k to the woman in compensation for being trapped inside her house by a corpse after the cemetery wall fell down and i was like
wait
waIT
FORTY THOUSAND????
